Once again, I get a great deal on Amazon. Warning: They are SHARP!
My initial review after one day using them. I buy cheap knives for $4 and use them as long as I can. My current set is ~4 years old, and for a while have been tearing through what I cut. Enough is enough. So I went hunting on Amazon for a better set of knives. That particular day, they were on sale for $29.99. After reading the specs, I decided they were pretty good knives for the price. First, they are very well made. The blade is a single piece of high carbon German stainless steel that goes all the way through the well-crafted handle, and the handles are thicker than the blades. They aren't going to fall apart at the hilt. About the steel: this is the same grade as used in Swiss Army knives. Anyone who's had one knows how well the steel holds up, and holds an edge. Now, these aren't as hard as professional kitchen knives, but I didn't pay a professional price for them, either. This grade of steel is a good balance between hardness, edge holding, and rust resistance. With a proper sharpening tool they should last for many years. Hint: do NOT run them through your can opener! Get a good honing stone when they start to lose their edge. This steel is easy to sharpen and get a good edge. As far as cleaning, a quick wipe with a soapy dishtowel or sponge is all they need. The blades are so slick they clean easily. Here's a hint on cleaning: Don't use HOT water. My Chinese FiL was a chef in a Chinese restaurant, and had professional knives. I saw him washing them in COLD water! I said something to my wife, and while he never got a good grasp on English, he said something to her in Chinese, and she told me hot water will dull knives quickly. Ya know, I think the old guy had something, because I started rinsing my razors in cold water and they last for MONTHS. Clean them lukewarm at best. I saw a review where someone said they put them in the dishwasher. Not a great idea... Now, a word on sharpness. They are sharp. REAL sharp. I got them, cleaned them, and then took the next smallest one to dice a chicken breast. In the process I felt the blade hit my finger. I looked and saw nothing. I finished supper and then cleaned things up. After I was done with the dishes I saw a tiny flap of skin hanging off my finger. It shaved the top layer cleanly. So cleanly that I didn't feel it, and the flap of skin has healed back in place in 24 hours. That's the sign of a cut made with a sharp knife. Not as important as quality and performance, but I love the design, too. I was wondering how they would feel to the hand, and the curve is very comfortable. All in all, I scored an excellent deal.

Great knife set for everyday
I like cooking and I am very happy with this knife set. The knives look beautiful and feel strong in the hand. The red handles are really nice and make the set look expensive. All the knives are very sharp. They cut meat, vegetables, fruit, and bread easily. I don’t have to use much force, and it makes cooking faster and more fun. The different sizes are useful – I use the big knife for most things and the smaller ones for cutting fruit or doing detail work. The handles are comfortable to hold, and the knives feel well balanced. They are easy to clean too. I just wash and dry them by hand, and they still look like new. For this price, I think the quality is excellent. I would definitely recommend this set to anyone who wants good, sharp knives for their kitchen.

STOP THINKING ABOUT IT—JUST BUY!
I don’t actually own these knives. But I’ve purchased them twice as gifts for other people. My friend absolutely loves them!!! I actually watched her use the items, and handled them myself—trust—they’re razor sharp—so be very careful handling them. The weight and balance of these knives are substantial, fully forged from solid steel—formed into one entire piece; so there’s no chance of breaking. The spine is thick and the blade has a 15 degree angle, used by German and Japanese knives to cut razor thin—with little effort. That is, the knife does all the work! The Brewin CHEFILOSOPHI Japanese Chef Knife Set, looks (aesthetically) beautiful! with 5 PCS adorned with elegant Red Pakkawood Handles, with noticeable ergonomic design that awes! These knives are as professional as they come, as stated, made of ultra sharp High Carbon Stainless Steel that impresses right down to the last cut! with an 8” Chef’s Knife, 7” Santoku Knife for sushi and cutting fish, 8” Carving knife, 5” Utility Knife and a 3.5” Paring knife. You’ll love them—guaranteed! And the value for the money? SPOT ON!!! especially when they do 50% off sales! Like I said—I’ve purchased two sets as gifts. My family is away on vacation—so they’ve yet to receive or use them. But I can’t imagine a different experience. No need to think about this purchase! DO IT! Quality, durability, weight, ease of cleaning, sharpness and functionality are ALL 10 stars and beyond! Lastly, the packaging is truly mesmerizing? Can’t explain—you’ll just have to experience it for yourself! I’m a minimalist; so I’m not going to buy something I don’t need—already have GREAT German knives. But these Brewin knives ARE THE REAL DEAL!

Well-made, attractive, n SHARP.
I really like these knives. They're handsome, n appear to be holding up well. I was a lil leary about the wooden handles. They are very sharp. I hadn't realized just how dull my old knives had become. I like to cook, n have to be careful when washing these by hand. Happy I bought them.

Nice looking set
I’ve been using a Cusinart Knife set for a few years. Cheap set, I don’t cook much so never wanted to spend much on a knife set. Dulls fast, sharpened and dull fast again. I was visiting family recently and used their new knife set. Of course they spent a lot more money $$$ on it than I ever would but when I got home I decided time to get new knives. Searched on Amazon for a few days and put many in my shopping cart until I decided what to buy. This morning I came across this set and it was in my budgeted amount to spend. Same day delivery too. It looks really nice for this non cook lady, I’m sure it won’t get much use but when it does I hope it’s nice and sharp. I’ll update my post if any issues. In the meantime, here are some photos I took when this set arrived.

The metal used. and how it chipped.
My Chef Knife developed chips in it after a year. Good set but i was dissapointed. Aslo was hard contacting the warranty departmet. Took amazon customer support 40 min to track down a number for me to call. Other than that i really like the set. Hope the pictures help. As a side note the knife was used during nornal chopping of vegatables and wooden chopping board.

Definatley would purchase again
5 stars from me, now the truth, Very nice looking knife set, they do not hold a edge well with a lot of use, but I have a good sharpener, so they take a edge quickly, cleanup and does not stain, I bought a magentic wall holder so they are wasy to get too. 5 Stars because of the price to usability.

Very sharp knives. Great price.
These knives are the sharpest knives my mom and I have ever used. You have to be very careful when cutting with them. We use them to cut chuck roasts for grinding hamburger and they cut through with ease. Everything we use them for is practically effortless. When they’re on sale, which is relatively frequent, they are a steal at as low as $24 I’ve paid for a whole set. I’ve purchased sets for my sisters and they were astonished by how well they cut. The sharpness holds up very well. If you need sharp knives for tough cutting, these will serve you well.

Look great, very sharp.
I waded through many options when looking for a new knife set - and even used ChatGPT to help with the comparisons. I was working to a budget and these came up as the best array and quality of blades for my needs, and they look great too. As mentioned, they are extremely sharp.

Top quality and sharpness!
I bought this set for my daughter to replace dull, cheap knives she had. She's very happy with them and impressed with the quality and sharpness. It makes food prep so much easier. She'll have these for a very long time. 100% satisfied.
