What can one say? This is a definitive collection of the best from the deservedly incomparable Billie Holiday. Even if you aren't well acquainted with her work, if you have any appreciation at all of the roots of jazz and blues, and quality singing, Lady Day will bring you to tears with the delicate phrasing, tempo, and depth of emotion in her delivery. The only negative for me (and it really has nothing to do with the quality of this record), is that it reminds me of the absolutely ridiculous casting of the minimally talented Diana Ross as Holiday in the movie "Lady Sings the Blues".

I wanted to add a review that gives a little more perspective on this white vinyl Billie Holiday release. I have been on the lookout for a BH vinyl release that was reasonably priced and covered along of ground, as she had output that spanned the 40’s and 50’s. I was struggling to find anything that fit the bill until this was released. I am an “amateur audiophile” and wanted a vinyl record as they often have the most dynamic and full sound and that is definitely true if this vinyl release. The order of songs are not in chronological order and bounce from the the late 30’s to the late 50’s. Often, you can tell the late 30’s songs are a bit thinner and less three dimensional than the later output. The surface noise is also a bit more significant on the 30’s songs. Having said that, the surface noise in general is quite low and overall the album sounds fantastic. I would imagine this is about as good as it gets if you are looking for an excellent and great sounding BH record. The white vinyl is cool looking and high quality, no warping, hole in the right place, right size, etc. the album cover is gatefold and has 4 photos of BH on the inside with song authors and dates of each recording on the interior of the gatefold. Overall, a very solid BH vinyl record for a reasonable price!

Trying to turn my granddaughter onto the blues. Thought this might just be the perfect way to start.

Love this collection. Beautiful recordings. I can't comment much on quality and fidelity as I am listening to them on my $150 Audiotechnica turntable hooked up to a paid of Bose speakers, but these are beautiful, timeless recordings. I am a huge Billie Holliday fan,-I even named my dog Billie after her!

This is one of the best record sets I have bought in years. The mastering is great and the vinyl is thick and groovy. Buy this set NOW.

The product arrived on time but was packaged poorly and loosely in a large box filled with packing material, this caused the vinyl to warp significantly, the music is great however!

Sound quality is excellent, playing this on a Rega P3 table with a Shure V60 cartridge and the sound is lovely. Good collection of her songs, missing a couple notables but it's great value especially if you're looking for an audiophile grade pressing, too many of the modern pressings are crap
