SSK003 Automatic Watch for Men - 5 -Sports - Blue Dial with Date Calendar and Luminous Hands & Markers and Black & Blue GMT Bezel, 100m Water-Resistant

I am a Seiko Fan and this watch did not disappoint. The SSK003 (aka Blueberry) is the Seiko 5 GMT Diver with the Batman bezel. Stainless steel, 14.7mm height, 42.5mm diameter with the standard 28.5mm dial along with a 24 hour chapter ring. The watch uses the 4r34 movement which is Seikos newest Automatic. This is an entry level movement. Performance is very good with that said. The watch has about 280-250 degrees of amplitude, 0.0-0.3ms of beat error and a max variation of 18 spd between 6 positions. Out of the box and rested dial down, the watch produces about -1 spd of accuracy give or take a couple tenths. Very consistent and very accurate. Performance is hard to argue about for a sub $500 watch. I love the looks of the watch, the bracelet is comfortable and has micro adjustments to customize the fit. I highly recommend this watch! My seller was also very good, shipping in less than 24 hours, very good price and an authorized Seiko dealer to boot. I am very happy!

Quality and color scheme are just beautiful. I bought blue and bezel’s color are top half black and bottom half blue. It’s not clicky bezel, but it has very good resistance so I’m not worrying about bezel moving itself. I was skeptical how $400 watch can be compare to Rolex (Sea dweller) and Omega (Sea Master). What a surprise! Of course, you can’t compare this to those watches, but if you don’t really care for high end brand, this can be a beautiful everyday watch and still will get compliments. Weight was there, I love heavy masculine watch that has weight to it. Plus, not too many people will know and care for high end brand watches anyway. If you like a watch with some weight, this is it for you. Quality of construction is very good and couldn’t find any fault or cheapness. This is my first Seiko and it has not disappoint me yet. Only time will tell its true built quality. Only complain was packaging (not seller’s packaging-shipping box was nicely packed and sealed). Seiko box was just a cardboard and watch’s glass was not protected by clear silicon, but just foam cover. It seem like it was returned items, but who knows. I saw scratches on the glass back cover, but upon close inspection, it was covered by clear silicon protection. There was no corner tip to lift it up, so I almost return the watch….. I had to scratch with my finger nail to lift the protection off. As for wrist band, It came with many links. So if you have small or medium wrist, you might have to remove quite a bit of them. I removed 2 links each side so total of 4 links were removed. Clasp is nice and secure. In conclusion, this is a very nice watch and worth to include it with my collections.

Quality to money, this watch is the best I’ve ever owned. The timepiece itself is exquisite. The bracelet is better than you’d expect at the price point. Buy with confidence.

The watch looks even better in person than in the photos. Everything feels high-quality and premium to the touch. It fully lives up to all the good things people say about this watch. The only downside is that the bezel does not click, although it is not supposed to. Many people might assume otherwise based on how it looks, so keep that in mind. Other than that, everything is perfect.

This is my first automatic watch and I’ve had it about a year. It’s a good size, and I love the looks of the watch. I took it to a local jeweler to get it sized, which ran about $20. I did manage to get a small scratch on the crystal. It’s hardly noticeable and, although I try to be careful with it, I do wear the watch a lot and so it’s subject to normal wear and tear.

Where do I start? I guess I'll start with seeing that this was on sale. I've always wanted a GMT Automatic and since most offerings are out of my price range, I decided to treat myself. I was not disappointed at all. It really is beautiful, everything from the watch to the bracelet is going to get looks. Speaking of, I actually like the GMT ring: it's very easy to grab hold of and turn and looks great. There are also additional 24 hour markings on the dial for the 3rd time zone functionality. Additionally, even though the watch face is 42mm, the watch wears like a smaller one due to its lug to lug size of 46mm. I was kind of worried because I was used to a 38mm but that worry evaporated as soon as I sized the bracelet for my wrist. The Jubilee style bracelet is very comfortable and the watch is not too heavy either. Definitely a watch I could see myself wearing all day. Downsides? For me, it's that the crystal is a Hardlex mineral glass instead of Sapphire. I don't know about it's long term durability so hopefully it will be okay. Also, even though it has an exhibition case back, the movement just isn't stylish enough in my opinion. But that feels like nitpicking due to the price point. It's a beautiful blue Seiko GMT Automatic and it looks like a $1000 watch. If you're on the fence, get it. Edit: If you're like me and worried about the Hardlex crystal, there are aftermarket Sapphire crystals that you can buy. I got one from CrystalTimes for about $40 as a spare in case the crystal gets too dinged up.

The OG of the new affordable GMTs w/ 4R34 (NH34) movements, now coming online. Random observations: 1. If the Amazon vendor is not a Seiko A.D. (some are) you’ll likely get a blank unstamped warranty card, which means not covered by Seiko USA’s 3-yr warranty. I’ve never found this to be a problem as the many Seiko I’ve owned have held up essentially forever. If you’re fine paying full retail, might as well buy from an A.D. seller on Amazon. 2. Interestingly, no more instruction booklet provided. In the unlikely event you need help using your watch, it’s downloadable from the Seiko USA support page. The manual states “The telephone time signal service is helpful for setting the seconds hand exactly.” How retro. 3. The blue one’s dial’s “sunburst” is subtle & not as pronounced as with, say, a blue Orient Ray II. 4. The back-end of the seconds hand (with the lollipop lume dot) is painted black, a nice touch. 5. It’s not a dive watch! It’s a travel watch. “10 Bar” (100m), so a dunking or splash is fine, but no snorkeling or extended swimming. 6. Supplied “jubilee-style” bracelet is fine (solid end links, nice enough finish & clasp) but unless you’re Popeye, you’ll need to resize it, and it uses pins/collars. I’m wearing it on a NATO. 7. Because of the slightly thicker movement and exhibition caseback, if on a NATO will wear a bit higher on the wrist, compared to say the SKX you’re upgrading from. 8. Buttery-smooth manual winding. No gritty feel at all. 9. Spec’d at +45/-35s/day, mine’s doing considerably better. YMMV. 10. An overall great value in a megabrand GMT!
