This crusher is well built and will last. I crushed a lot of apples with it. It isn't hard to turn and I am a 65 year old lady. Highly recommend it.

You'll definitely want to motorize this. Hand cranking this gets old pretty quick. The "blades" are stamped stainless steel that are pressed into a wood drum. Each blade has approximately 1/4" x 1/4" alternating teeth and gaps along its length. The design flaw is that they are all lined up. As the teeth cut into the apple, the gaps are lined up and eventually the uncut apple rides on the drum in the gaps between the teeth. That prevents the teeth from cutting further into the apple and that makes it unnecessarily difficult. If each blade were offset by one tooth, this wouldn't be a problem and hand cranking would be much easier.After replacing the blades with stainless screws, and after motorizing this thing, it rocks.
