Mercer Culinary M23114 Millennia Black Handle, 18-Inch Wavy Edge, Cake Slicer

I bought this knife for cutting rockwool insulation. It the perfect length to cut the insulation in half and It doesn’t tear it cutting.

I didn’t buy this to slice cake. I bought it to cut rockwool mineral insulation. They say to cut with a bread knife, but I wanted something long that would cut the 16” width of the insulation for making it thinner for walls made of 2x3 instead of 2x4 wood studs that I was insulating during a 1969 mobile home trailer remodel. Basically I wanted to cut a 6” thick batt of insulation into two 3” thick batts by “resawing” them to a size they don’t make. It worked very well and saved me from having to cut with a shorter knife from opposite sides and hope they lined up in the middle. It’s still sharp after many cuts, so I presume it will work for a long time for cake too! This knife is basically a serrated sword!

Bought this to use for shaping styrofoam. Works great! It’s thin enough to be pliable, but strong enough to do the job.

This knife seems well built. My wife told me when she opened it that it was long and big. I dont hear that often from her but it was nice she was happy with the knife for her cakes.

So I received my knife today and after I stopped laughing at the size of it I decided to rename it. So now I have my cake machete! Lol. I will say I definitely won't have a problem with not having a big enough knife to go through my cakes! I put my machete right to the test. My cakes were cool and ready to slice! I must say I absolutely LOVE my cake machete! It sliced through my cakes like butter. I'm so happy I purchased it. After seeing how long it was I was curious if it would hinder the ease of use. It definitely did not disappoint! I'd buy it again and will definitely encourage others to try it out!

I bought this specifically to cut sourdough. Regular knives make it a chore. This knife has now cut dozens of loaves of soudough, and has made the process quick and easy. This knife is an amazing bargain.

There are a lot of contradictory and confusing comments on this item, so I contacted the factory. They confirm "The M23114 has an 18" blade length". This is a nice knife, not super expensive, and despite what some reviewers have posted, it is huge, with a blade that is really 18 inches long. Note the stress ion the manufacturer's model number. "M23114" has an 18" blade, if this is what you want be sure to verify the actual model number before you order.

Excellent knife for its intended purpose also, Great for slicing home made bread, etc. watch your fingers, this thing is sharp and there’s lots of blade to watch out for.

I've been wanting a knife to level my cakes with a long blade this knife is perfect can't go wrong with a 16 inch blade good quality to look forward to using it if your looking for a knife with a long blade you won't be disappointed
