Bound in human flesh and inked in blood, the ancient "Necronomicon"—the Book of the Dead—unleashes unspeakable evil upon mankind in director Sam Raimi's (Darkman, Drag Me to Hell) outrageously hilarious third chapter in his Evil Dead Trilogy. Bruce Campbell returns as Ash, the handsome, shotgun-toting, chainsaw-armed department store clerk who is time warped backwards into England's Dark Ages, where he romances a beauty and faces legions of the undead. Can Ash save the living from the evil dead, rescue his girlfriend, and get back to his own time? Review: Awesome Movie - Awesome movie. One thing to note is that the third disc is marked correctly but the movie menu when you pop the disc in says disc 2 for some reason. A ultimate edition wow Scream Factory did what Universal wouldn't
Army of Darkness is one of those home video releases there has been lots and i mean lots put out there! Does anyone remember the Limited edition Director's Cut on VHS in the gold clam shell case numbered by Anchorbay??? In the last 16+ years there's been so many re-releases of this film from the countless dvd's alone i can understand if fans/collectors are gun shy double dipping x10 at this point we've all done it But, I'm pretty sure this Collector's Edition is the Ultimate edition when you get down to it You get a lot of bang for your buck If you have Bruce Campbell vs Army of Darkness Boomstick Edition (2 Disc dvd Set from 2003) you can retire that set and send it out the door Breakdown of the 3-Disc Collectors Edition Set The only negative to this set it's Region Locked (A) so fans in the UK, Eastern Europe, Japan, etc. need a region free player if they want it Disc One Theatrical Version (1.85:1) Rated R Audio track DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Audio track 2.0 *****New Medieval Times: The making of Army of Darness Feature-Lengh Documentary, *** Original Ending,***Original Opening, **Deleted Scenes, ***Theatrical Trailer (U.S.) TV Spots and U.S. Video Promo DISC TWO --Director's Cut (1.78:1) Not Rated extras include ****Audio Commentary w/ Director, Actor Bruce Campbell and co-writer Ivan Raimi (This commentray track is old it's from the anchorbay 2-disc Boomstick Edition dvd) any Commentray with Campbell is great though! ***Creating the Deadites Featurette,**** BTS Footage from KNB Effects, Inc. **** Vintage Making of Featurette ****Extended Interview Clips, DISC THREE ---International Cut (1.78:1) Not Rated New 4k Scan from the Inter-positive **** Television Version (in Standard Definition Fullscreen) 1.33:1 ***Theatrical Trailer (International) ***Still Galleries---with Rare BTS Photos You get 4 different cuts of the film which is very cool getting the tv cut it neat to bad it's in SD but, better then some of the bootlegs floating around I only threw the first disc into player and watched a few scenes The Theatrical version looks and sounds awesome (keep in mind i can only compare it to the old HD-DVD Version) Snatch it up while it's on sale for $18.00 great price break this should be the last time we as fans/collectors will have to buy a proper Collector's Edition of Army of Darkness too bad it took 15 tries gotta love consumerism This is without a doubt one of the strongest releases put out by Shout all year It's a must have even if you over bought this film in the past this Collector's edition is the last stop for a long time Or until Universal tries to put out a bare bones 4K Blu Ray of it 9.4/10

Great movie. Confusing packaging.
Move is great. We all knew this already. The disc labeling is doing my head in. There are 4 discs and each one is stamped with the info on top of the physical disc. When you put the discs in your player, the info in the menu doesn’t match what the disc says. The 4k disc (disc 1) and disc 2 (blu ray disc) don’t have any info in the menu. Disc 3 shows as disc 2 and disc 4 as disc 3. I thought Scream Factory miss-stamped my discs. As reference, the disc in my photo is the menu of disc 3.

Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?!
Got the Blu-ray version to replace my original BOOMSTICK DVD edition. Great movie. Sam & Ivan Raimi's great series along with the awesome Bruce Campbell. Except no remakes or thievery substitutions. Disc actually arrived undamaged. I'm still in shock.

Great if it will work in your 4K UHD player...
Updated: I exchanged my Panasonic DP-UB420P-K and got a Panasonic DP-UB154P-K. That player plays the disc perfectly. The movie looks great in 4K. I'd highly recommend it. The 4K UHD disc looks great on my LG 4K UHD player, but won't work at all on my Panasonic DP-UB420P-K 4K UHD Blu-Ray player. The regular Blu-Ray disc works in the Panasonic, but not the 4K UHD. Other 4K UHD Blu-Rays work in the Panasonic, buit not this one. Would have been 5 stars if I could have gotten it to work on the Panbasonic. I wish LG still made 4K UHD Blu-Ray players. One of my favorite movies of all time, so I'm pretty disappointed it doesn't work in the Panasonic player since that's hooked to my biggest/newest TV. I had heard the Panasonic was one of the best 4K UHD players, so I'm doubly disappointed the disc doesn't work in it.

Save your money.
As usual, the directors cut and all the extra material is on regular 1080p blu-ray. What you are paying extra for is a poorly remastered 4K (wouldnt even say Hdr) version of the theatrical cut. Dont buy this.

Buena pelicula
Me ha gustado la película, ya que hace tiempo la quería, sobre todo verla en su versión original, pero tienen que mejorar el menú de la misma, por que a veces es complicado cambiar los subtitulos

Excellent release
The relatively recent 4K version by Shout Factory is probably the definitive edition of this movie. You get the theatrical cut in 4K which looks amazing, a great upgrade from the 2013 Evil Dead Trilogy blu-ray by StudioCanal. You also get a 1080p blu-ray sourced from the new 4K scan, with the 2 other discs containing various cuts. I haven't had the chance to check them out yet but there's no doubt that the director's cut surely look better than the standard definition version included on the 2013 trilogy disc, and the international/TV cuts are welcome additions. Unfortunately, like all Shout releases, the blu-rays are locked to Region A, so if you don't have a way around it, then you're stuck with just the theatrical cut on the region free UHD disc. Either way, if you're a fan of AoD or just want to finish your Evil Dead Trilogy 4K set, I highly recommend.

The ultimate package for Army of Darkness fans!
4 cuts of the film on 3 blu-rays with a reversible sleeve of the original theatrical US poster art! The first disc (theatrical cut) looks better than the previously released 'Primitive Screwhead Edition' from Universal as this one doesn't use DNR so you can actually see some film grain! The new documentary about the creation of Army of Darkness is really fun to watch. There is, however, a missing scene in the theatrical cut where Ash jumps over a stone wall when he is trying to get to the windmill which should be corrected with a replacement disc from Shout! soon in November. The second disc (director's cut) looks even better than the theatrical cut although I prefer some lines from the theatrical cut over the director's cut, the director's cut is still the one to watch as it's the longest of the three main cuts although it does have the apocalyptic "downer" ending (not my favourite but it would have been cool to think of what they would have done with an Evil Dead 4 where Ash builds a robot army to fight Deadites!) The third disc (International cut) is actually the best looking cut of the set as it was scanned at 4K, it's just a shame that it's not quite as good as the director's cut but it does keep the S-Mart ending from the theatrical edition. The third disc also contains the TV cut of the film with alternate scenes not seen in any other version but wasn't exactly transferred properly so you'll notice the frame rate speed up and slow down at times which is a bit of a shame but considering how blurry it is, you're probably not going to be able to sit through the whole thing anyway. I imagine watching this cut with Motionflow on would be a nightmare! I'll just stick to watching my old VHS tape from USA Network if I want to see that version anyway. It's at least here for posterity. All in all, an excellent set and a great resource if you have a blu-ray drive on your PC and want to make your own edit of the films! :)
