Would these hurt if you are doing gymnastics?

Personally, I wouldn’t wear anything made of metal in my hair while tumbling or doing gymnastics.

Do these work on think hair?

no, if your hair is thick most of these don't do anything to it. especially if it is thick and curly.

Do these work with curly hair or do they snag the hair and cause a dent in the hair?

They might work better with curly hair
