This miniature book nook train kit took me several hours to assemble, so definitely plan for a longer build time. The pieces are small and detailed, and patience helps. That said, the end result is adorable and completely worth the effort.The details are what make this stand out. Once finished, it looks like a tiny magical train scene tucked between your books. The built in light feature is such a nice touch and really brings the whole thing to life. I love that you can turn it on and off, it adds a cozy glow without being overpowering.If you enjoy hands on projects and don’t mind a more involved assembly, this is such a fun and unique piece. It makes a great conversation starter and adds personality to a bookshelf.Highly recommend for anyone who loves miniatures or creative DIY kits.

High Quality and Gorgeous DesignProvided materials: building pieces, sandpaper, things for lighting (except batteries), screwdriver with magnet at the tip and screws, instruction manual.Time working on it: As an impatient person, not once was I bored while working on this project. Something about the repetitive motion of searching for the correct labeled piece, clicking it out of its spot and fitting it into another piece was surprisingly relaxing, while keeping me engaged the whole way through.Near the end though I did get a bit frustrated with the wires and some of the finishing pieces. I'd say it took me 9-10 hours since this was my first book nook, and I was taking my time making sure the pieces were facing the right way before I secured them.Design: The attention to detail on this craft is insane and it adds so much depth to my bookshelf. They even provided a mirror to stick on the back to make it seem like a bigger space on the inside. Another thing I also really appreciated about the design of this piece is that the design kinda continued on the outside? Like the bookshelf on the front and the way the railing continues from the inside to the outer areas of it. I also love the cat and the little people in the train. I'm considering painting the cat, maybe sometime in the future.Building pieces/material: Most of the material provided is wood pieces that hold each other together like a puzzle. Some of the pieces are plastic, but at least 80% of it is wood or at least a byproduct of wood. The pieces fit together very nicely, though sometimes it was difficult to fit a piece into another one, they provide a square of sandpaper to shave the peg down a little to make it fit better. Honestly the sandpaper is pretty flimsy and thin, but its enough. A nail file does work much more effectively, but I'm glad they thought to at least include something for people who might not own a nail file. Another thing I'd also like to add is that it comes with spares for the pieces that are easy to lose, which did come in handy for me.Fragile wood?: I've seen some people talk about the wood being fragile but I think it has some bend to it rather than just immediately snapping. I was just being super careful the entire time because the pieces do feel kinda fragile, so I only managed to break two pieces. The first was the top or bottom part of the window, and the second was I broke the front of the train where the part bended. BE EXTRA CAREFUL WITH THAT PART!! Thankfully though for the window there was a bottom part with other little sections that connected to the top part; so much so that it stabilized itself, and I didn't need to do any true fixing to it. But it did provide me some difficulties as I worked with it. As far as the train, I just added tape from the inside and some sticky tack putty wedged in between the crevices, and its perfectly fine till this day. You might have to get a bit creative if you break something though.Holes not Aligned: Another thing I've also seen people talk about in these reviews is some of the holes not aligning properly, and I'm not sure if this applies to my case or if I just assembled some parts wrong, but the wall pegs didn't really align with the finished bottom chunk so it really made everything wonky. Those screws really were a lifesaver in securing everything down because it isn't perfect. Still, the top was sticking up and it didn't look great so I just placed a book on top and that worked really well and I really like the end result and how it looks on my bookshelf, so it was a win for me. Another smaller example of the holes not being perfectly aligned is on the left side of the front, the hole was so big to the point the fence couldn't fit properly. Maybe one day I'll get around to actually adding the piece, but its such a small detail that I'm okay with it not being exactly perfect.Glue: For the wood on wood surfaces, this worked pretty okay but it didn't feel the most sturdy and it doesn't dry fast at all. It sticks enough to the point where I'm not unhappy with it. Luckily I didn't have to use the glue very much. But when I had to stick the flower petals (wood) to the river (plastic) it doesn't stick at all, it slides really easily, and its especially messy. To fix it, I just used some sticky tack putty (not provided in the set) and that worked much better despite the flowers now sticking up a little.Instructions: The instructions were very clear and easy to understand for the most part. 99% of the time I understood how to put the pieces together based solely on the pictures and occasional clarification text. The only complaint is the order of some of the assembly. Sometimes it feels more productive to do the steps in a different order, but it wasn't awful. Whenever I didn't understand what the instructions were saying, theres a few videos on youtube that provide a better visual and helped me understand some parts, especially the wiring.Wiring: Shoutout to my older sister and a youtube video for helping me with this part because it was pretty frustrating. The instructions weren't clear at ALL on this part and there wasn't a great distinction between which wire was which. After I figured this part out, it works great, and the lights are still lasting with occasional use after a few months. Which is good, because I'm NOT going to replace the batteries once they die. Its just way too hard to get back there and replace them.Suggestions: If your going to buy this, I suggest having a big tabletop space that can stay undisturbed for a few days. Having a lot of space that I didn't have to clean up after I finished a part was really useful and made me want to sit down and start on it for a bit even if I was only completing 1-2 pages. Another thing I recommend is a better glue, possibly wood glue, but I didn't really need it unless I was fixing a broken piece. Lastly, for this book nook only, sticky tack putty really helped me stick the flowers to the water without being messy and difficult to work with.Conclusion: I'm rating this a 5 star because I enjoyed doing it, the build worked out for me in the end with minimal frustration, and it looks great on my bookshelf. Keep in mind this is my first book nook build, and it wasn't too difficult as long as I payed extra close attention to the way things are facing in the instructions.Anyways, I love the way it looks on my bookshelf and even though it was expensive, it was money well spend and I highly recommend it.

This was easy for me and my 3rd book nook art Ive put together. I chose this one because I miss Japan and when I do I put my face real close to it so it feels like Im there. I always look forward ro going back every year and if you love Japan youll recognize some things. Be nice if Rolife created a 711 theme one lol. I dont usually leave reviews but I sure enjoy putting these together. Going to buy more.

I bought a few kits from Rolife, but so far 3 out of 4 are missing parts or mis-Functioned. The first music box (with the ballet dancer) was a gift from a friend but the part supposed to make the sound was not working, so no music comes out of it. The second snow globe music box works fine, but the glue was all dried out I had to buy a glue. The third one contains too many small parts and some wood sticks are so fragile that I accidentally broke a few, so I didn’t end up finishing it. The fourth is this Sakura book nook I bought during Prime Day but didn’t have time to work on it until my Christmas break. I was working hard until I found out the light comes with the kit is missing. Now I have to stop working and wait until perhaps a point I figure how to get one from somewhere lease. But it’s not as easy as finding a glue. Rolife needs to work harder on its quality control.Updates: I was able to get the light and assembled the set (Sakura densya). I also got another set (time travel). Time Travel takes less time to assemble but not recommended for first time players because it contains parts that are very fragile. Applying proper pressure without breaking the parts can be difficult especially for someone with big hands. And the order of some steps in the guide books does not make sense, so you do need to make some judgement calls before doing it… the pieces are easily broken if you dissemble the already in-place parts. Would give it a five star if no missing part in the first place.

This review is for Sunshine Town. I had such a good time putting this together. What an adorable kit! The kit was very well thought out and well designed. At times the instructions were a little confusing, the translation was a little off. But if you take your time and really look at the diagrams and photos of the finished kit that other people have posted, you can figure it out. The only thing I did not like was the paint, it didn't cover very well. Took like four or five coats if you really wanted to cover the dark wood with an even white finish. I wish I had bought my own acrylic paint at the store.Otherwise though the kit gives you everything you need. The only thing you have to provide are the AAA batteries that power the lights. I would recommend using your own paint brush (or your own paint), but they do provide those if you want to use theirs. They even give you a little piece of sandpaper to smooth the edges when they are sharp from popping the pieces out.This kit is advanced and pretty tedious. Lots and lots of steps. I would not recommend for a child. A teenager is probably fine as long as they are detail oriented. This kit probably took me around 20-25 hours to complete over the span of a week + long weekend. Very fun way to spend some free time! I definitely plan to do another kit from this company.

I've seen bought a few diaramas and book nooks past this one, and I can confirm that this was one of the nicer ones! The important pieces are all thick enough to be sturdy. There are spare parts as well, though not as many as I'd like. Would have loved if they included more flowers for you to decorate with, but I ended up just cutting little pieces from the leftovers as "petals". The water effect is AMAZING due to the multiple layers of woods and plastics used!Pros:- Came with EVERYTHING you need, except batteries.- The glue it came with was the best glue I've ever used. I also use the magnetized screwdriver for other diaramas.- The battery pack is expertly hidden underneath the book nook, and doesn't dangle when picked up. It's also easy to access.- The wiring was easy to work with; some projects I've worked with required you to tear away the plastic of the wire. This project did NOT need you to do that; everything is ready for you to build with!- No painting necessary.Cons:- Some pieces, like the pier poles / train body / AC unit "legs" are thin and easy to break since you have to push the pieces together.- Pieces are a TIGHT fit. Prepare to push many wooden parts together.- The back corner where the sakura tree goes is a bit bare; you can try and put something in the back to liven up the white space.Tips:1. Apply equal pressure when breaking out your wooden parts from their molds. Use your thumbs to push them out- any kind of pinpoint pressure (like pushing them out with tweezers) is an easy way to break the pieces.2. Be extremely careful with the "train" piece. It uses super-fine cuts to cause it to be "bendy", and it's quite fragile.3. Use your spare parts to glue to the backboard (the side with the bookshelf, cat, etc.). They can keep your wires in place much better, since the board only gives you 3 areas to keep the wires down. I ended up needing 6.4. The hardest part is pushing your completed sides together to make the book nook shape. Keep your hands flat and push against the base, not against other completed parts. It will be a very tight fit- push the board into each hole slot to make sure they fit, then sand down if needed.5. The board with the AC unit is the same side that form-fits to the stairs. If you have any dark paint, paint the area below where the stairs fit in case your stairs don't fall flush against the board. When the lights are on you don't notice the gap, but with the lights off it can be seen.6. Don't panic if you break a piece! This type of wood breaks like "layers", so a break is nearly invisible when you glue them back together.

Packaged well, but the glue it came with was dried out. I just used some Titebond I had on hand instead, you can get it at any hardware store. The wood sheets include multiples of most of the small and easily-broken or -lost parts. The included small section of sandpaper is more than adequate to clean up the edges of the pieces. Most of the sub-assemblies just fall together quite easily, but collecting it all into the final piece is a bit of a challenge with how tight some of the joints are. Getting the wiring joints right is a little tough, and it took me a good few hours to actually complete the whole kit. Patience is needed as some parts rely solely on glue rather than joinery.All told, though, it looks absolutely incredible when you're finished. If you're gifting this to someone, it's best that they are inclined to work with their hands and are good with somewhat complex assemblies--think some of the larger and higher parts count Gundam kits or modern, detailed model kits that, while complex, fall together without much headache.

I got the Sunshine Town book nook and I absolutely love it! Putting it together is time consuming because the pieces are small and there was more painting involved than I expected. It took me multiple days to complete, working on it for a few hours at a time, but I loved seeing it slowly come together! The nook itself has a lot of detail and I would say the instructions are clear to understand as long as you don't rush and make sure you read ALL the written parts. I really didn't think I was going to get the lights working on the first try but I did, not hard at all! If you're someone who likes little crafts like this, or you know someone who does, you won't regret the purchase! I already bought a second one as a Christmas gift!

It was a joy to work on this! Took me about a week, off and on, and I'm so grateful for the spare parts (for the easy to break little bits). Highly recommend when you do the guard rail, insert the base first, then the rail. And be gentle with taking the pieces apart. I had some irritation with getting the trolley to stay standing but as you can see (in the pics), it is standing lol. The wiring was so easy and my daughter loved pushing the button, though really all you need to do is touch it and it comes on easily. Very tempted to order the other three now😍😁. Thank you!

This kit is cute but oh my god the pieces are FRAGILE. The kit does give extras of several pieces but there was a few times I had the only ones they gave me break. I also had a really hard time getting the right side decorated wall into place as the water pieces and the stairs going into the water were making it an awkward angle and I actually ended up snapping the wall in half trying to push it into place. I glued and taped it back together but you can tell looking on the right side it kinda curves outward and I had to kinda tape the front so you couldn’t see behind it. There was a few parts of the construction where it didn’t really make sense why parts weren’t attached earlier as it would have been easier then when the thing is standing. There is also a part on the left wall that has outlines of the cherry blossoms and a sort of frame above it but nothing end up going there which I thought was kinda weird.Over all cute kit, you will need glue it does come with some but I used my own craft glue so idk how good the one it comes with it. If you get this kit just be very very very careful with the pieces they will break very easily
