The Craft of Natural Dyeing: Glowing Colours from the Plant World

If you have never explored natural dye substances, this book gives a decent overview of some of the plants and substances which can effect color. However, for someone who has a reasonable understanding of dye processes, it is woefully lacking in details and options. If you want serious, practical information, look to more "scientific" based sources, like from Sasha Duerr or India Flint.

I bought this book to help in my son's class project. There were so many contradicting ways to dye fabric with natural dyes and this book was very good about explaining the process. I mainly followed the guidelines in this book, but tweaked the process with other things I read as well. I used this book for the most information, but I did look to other sources as well.

This book is a great resource for natural dying. As a beginning dyer I am looking for lots of info to get me started. I have enjoyed what this book has to offer.

I purchased this for my mother, but was so impressed I got a second copy for myself. Nice clear english, easy to understand with a lot of practical information which makes it easy to use. I enjoyed the photos, it is so nice to see clear pictures of what you are trying to achieve. I was impressed with how many everyday plants can be used, normally, things like this cost a fortune to get all the equipement, not in this case. I would highly recommend this book to anyone dyeing their own wool/fleece whether experienced or new. Great book

If you need to to know anything about natural dyeing of a natural fibre/material, then this is the book for you. I bought this book as my Daughters teacher has asked me do demontrate a warp-weighted loom that the Vikings would have used, but I felt that needed some good source of information on the kind dyes the vikings would of used, so this book covers this infomation.
