This stuff has strong effects and is very perfumey smelling. Almost like potpourri.I already knew valerian didn't agree with my stomach, and this stuff is no better in that regard. I found that a shorter steep makes it more tolerable.According to AI, this perfume smell and digestive upset could be due to how it was harvested. It suggested that I let it air out for awhile and allow time for some of the active substances to convert into other active substances.In other words, maybe it's too fresh?I'm not complaining. It might be top shelf stuff if you like valerian root. It's definitely the strongest I've had.Tastes and smells great imo, but I'll only be taking it on occasions... I'm kinda craving it right now tbh lol.Make sure to sweeten it. Stevia works great.And bear in mind that I'm no Valerian root expert

This was my first time buying Valerian Root tea.I have become a big tea drinker and my doctor (MD) suggested that I try Valerian Root tea to help me sleep as it has calming and soothing properties.She did not tell me about the smell ... ha ha ha.When I first opened and smelled it, I thought, "oh, this is horrible."Then, I began researching and found that the worse that this tea smells, the better the quality???Whaaat? ha ha haSo, I brewed some.At first I found it strong, but have now acquired a taste for it.The actual taste is fine.I just don't breath in through my nose before I take a sip.Also, I don't let it steep for very long like I do with other teas.I read that is helpful in diminishing the strong taste. It is helpful.If you are looking for a high quality Valerian Tea ... I feel that this is a good one!I would recommend and would buy again.

Top notch product. I blend it with chamomile, lemon balm and passionflower.

This is the real deal and it works. It smells awful and the manure smell lingers on my hands, coffee grinder, and anything else it touches, but that's how I know it's legit. I started making my own capsules to take before bed, and they worked just as well as the prefilled capsules I used to buy. 5 stars because it's amazing; but, I did decide to stop using it because it's so stinky. If you can get past the smell and are determined to make your own valerian root concoction, this is good stuff.

The valerian root I am used to buying is a brown color. This is almost black. I know valerian root smells badly and tastes terrible. But this almost black type really stinks! I have to be sure that the jar lid is very tight or else it will stink up my whole cabinet. And I can't use much in my herbal tea combination because the taste is far worse than the brown type I usually buy. The image on the listing shows the brown type but that's not what you get. The brown type comes in various shapes; this black type comes in like little pebbles. I don't like it but I'm using it. I just won't buy this brand again.

Bought to help relax before bed. I drink a cup of this tea about an hour before going to bed. I feel calmer and fall asleep faster. Highly recommend.

Arrived on time was exactly what I was looking for. Very smelly, which is what this product is supposed to be. It smells like sticky feet. Most people might not know that but it does smell bad. Super happy with this results. Have made lots of tea out of it.
