Great for mixing Art Mediums
This mixer is great and a great value. I use it to mix ink, paint, and other mediums, and it does the job perfectly, even on relatively large containers with thick consistencies. It only comes with one stir bar. So, you may need to purchase more. I also suggest getting a powerful magnet to retrieve the bars from your containers to avoid messes.

Weak magnets, but only $20
Update: After playing around with different sized stir bars I found that 25mm works better than 30mm for a standard mason jar as well as various flasks and media bottles. Either the standard cylindrical or type B with a center spin ring work well. The shorter stir bar appears to mix solutions just as well as the longer, but able to obtain faster rpm with fewer spin outs. Maybe the unit comes with a 25mm bar for a reason. Duh! I can’t attest to the magnet strength, but it works well enough for me to upgrade to 5 stars. It seems that everybody working with liquid cultures owns at least one of these. For $20 it’s hard to find a basic stir plate with better reviews. That said, my experience is mixed. The price is right, sure, but the magnets are weak. Trying to get a standard 30mm stir bar centered and spinning in a quart size Mason jar is a challenge. The bar tends to get thrown to the side and stuck in the ditch perimeter of the slightly convex interior center. If the speed is ramped up too much it’s thrown off center and back into the ditch. Once centered and spinning at a low to moderate speed, it works well enough. I plan to try stir bars with a center spin ring to see if that helps. Compared to my Lab House hot/stir plate this is far inferior. Granted the other cost 3X more. I’d give it 2-3 stars based on performance alone, but for $20 I’ll be generous with 4 stars. YMMV

Weak Magnets but I Overcame That
I guess I was lucky and it worked out of the box. I was going to build my own stir plate, but the price of these were equal to or less than I would have paid for a DIY plate. It threw the magnets when I tried to increase the speed with something more viscus than water. Something in the back of my mind that I perceived but being an idiot, I thought I was better at analysis. Fail on my part. I gave it four stars because the magnets are weak but it does spin. Also, the potentiometer (POT) that is on the unit isn't an exact science. I can forgive it because of the cost. I bought a selection of stir bars for ~ $8.00. They kept throwing to the edges of my flask. I have to admit that my fluid was a combination of fermented peppers and vinegar, so the viscosity was much more than plain H2O. So, I had to figure out how to keep the stir bars from flinging. I finally ordered some stir bars that have rare earth magnets in them. The results were terrific to me. No, I can't get a vortex with them but they do a great job of stirring at a higher speed though a thick liquid mass. I got the 1 1/2" ones, but the 1" would probably be a better choice and let me increase the speed. If you are looking into this unit, just remember that the magnets are not that strong. Maybe, I'll break mine down and see if I can replace the ceramic magnets with rare earth magnets. But for the time being, I'm satisfied. If you are just mixing something with ~ the same viscosity of H2O, there shouldn't be a problem. I hope this helps.

Works great!
Works great. Hard to stir slowly, but otherwise no complaints. Excellent value.

GENIUS DEVICE!!
This thing is phenominal! No more slinging paint, stain, and finish everywhere using a paint stirrer in a drill. My experience to date has been with wipe-on poly finish. I haven't tried it with one-coat paint which may be too thick. I also have not tried it with a metal can. I expect that NOT to work. The thing depends on a rotating magnetic field which metal would difuse to the point that I can't imagine it working. I just save all my used plasic containers to put liquids in to be stirred by this stirrer

Perfect for My Tissue Culture Experiments
I bought this magnetic stirrer for my tissue culture experiments, and it has been fantastic so far. It’s easy to use, runs smoothly, and keeps everything consistently mixed without any fuss. The speed control is reliable, and the unit feels sturdy enough for regular use. If you’re doing any kind of DIY lab work, home science projects, or plant tissue cultures like me, this little machine gets the job done effectively and without complications. Very happy with it!

Worked well until it didn't
Purchased this product in March of 2025. It is used twice per day to stir solution in a 500ml beaker while titration is occurring. Stopped working correctly on December 8, 2025. Motor turns as soon as power is applied (speed control pot is not working), but magnetic stirring pill does not rotate (it just bounces in same spot).

Muy útil y práctica por el tamaño. Funciona adecuadamente.

If you buy one and the little magnet just lays there and just vibrates, turn the unit off; the magnet will center itself, then turn it on and slowly increase the power. this is good for vary vary light mixing, any solid matter that hits it will knock the magnet off it's spin and it will go back to just vibrating

I'm sure the Stirrer does the job, but can't if it only has a US plug on the power adapter. What's the point of selling items like this in the UK if it doesn't have a UK plug. Buyer be warned.
