Could this be used as a septum ring?

No. I would not think so at all. The wire part is very delicate and sometimes unhitches, but I have it tightened in my ear. I think you would definitely see the wire in the septum. It would also, most likely, hang down much too low. They are not expensive, tho. You can always give them a try. I get lots of compliments on them in my ears. Would love to see it, if you do! :) (post a review with a picture :) )
