Is the front of this shoe narrow?

I have wide feet. They fit fine across the ball of my foot.

Can you hike in these? My son’s school trip recommended waterproof sandals, but he doesn't like sandals. He has to take water shoes too

No, i would not recommend hiking in those. The sole is not thick enough to protect the foot if you walk on rocks, branches or other hard surfaces, it is slippery when wet (fine in a pool, not so outside of a pool) and it’s more a sock than it is a shoe.

How's the grip of this water shoe?

I haven’t tried them on ice, but work well on wood floors, tiles, concrete, grass, and sand.
