What is the most sensitive setting, #1 or #9?

One is the least sensitive and typically what I use. Two picks up everything which can be too sensitive. Very effective even in the dark.

Looking to stop humans walking pets on my property or humans messing yard up. Will this work?

Yes, I think so! The motion activation has been great. It’s also a bit startling when it goes off. I purchased four, one had to be exchanged as it stopped working after about a month but otherwise I am very pleased.

Does the motion detector work well at night/when it’s dark?

In my experience, it works best at night. During the day when in full sun, I'm getting occasional false-positive activation, but this is only a problem from noon until about 4pm. Outside of that, it's very accurate.

Can you use it without a working faucet and hose?

It's an intermittent sprinkler. The noise of the sprinkling water and the water stream is what scares off the critters. It can be turned on, but all you will hear is a click that means the sprinkler is trying to spray water. It doesn't emit any kind of alarm that will scare off the critters.
