Really nice watercolor brush pens
I got these for my 7-yr-old who likes to paint, and he absolutely loves them. They are like a hybrid between watercolors and markers, like a marker with a paintbrush tip, which I really love because then you don't have to have a separate brush (which we can never seem to find in our house) and your watercolors don't get all mixed up and nasty. They come in a nice tray that slips into the storage case, which is nice because then you can pull them out and see all of them without them being just strewn all over the table. Besides being able to see what color each brush is on the brush end, the opposite end also indicates the color, which I thought made it easier for my aging eyes to tell the difference between two similar colors without having to take off the cap.You can use each colored brush without water, which gives you a bolder color but still a brush stroke, not a solid stroke like a regular marker. Some colors produced a more solid stroke than others, but that could possibly have been due to the differing amounts of pressure I used with each marker.Or you can dip the colored brushes in water, and it will produce a more diffused stroke. You can also use the clear/whitish brush over whatever your painting do produce a more diffused look. This brush is two pieces that screw together. One of the pieces is an empty tube that you can fill with water. You can either use it empty and dip it in water or fill it with water, which is released as you "paint" with it. If you fill it with water to use it, you can control how much water comes out by squeezing it or not. I, personally, preferred to use it empty and dip it in water because I found it difficult to control how much water was released when it was filled.I was surprised to see that the brush bristles stayed clean even though I used it on several different colors.I painted a picture all four different ways: without any water, then with the white/clear brush empty and filled, then dipping the colored brushes in water.I expected to like the "without water" version the best, but I actually liked the colored brushes dipped in water version the best.A couple things to remember:1. These watercolor brush pens work fine for the broad strokes, but for the finer details (like the little flower), not so great, as you would expect of any regular watercolors.2. When using the colored brushes without water, they didn't bleed through the paper I was using (which was just standard printer paper), but when using with water, either with the white/clear brush or with the colored brushes, they did bleed through the paper as you would expect, so make sure your put surface protection like you would with regular watercolors.

Vibrant and surprisingly versatile
When I received these I tested for blend, line, stroke, and bleed. Blend is how well the color blends from opaque to transparent with water. For blend tests I used a wet on dry method. Line is to test the biggest and smallest lines I can get. Stroke is to test how smooth transitioning from thinnest to biggest line is by varying pressure. Bleed is how well/far the color will bleed on a wet canvas. For the price, the results were pretty good! I didn't expect these brush pens to be as versatile as an actual water color palette, but I've been surprised with the quality of them so far! The colors are extremely vibrant, and the brush pens are pretty easy to use. The quality of color, blend, bleed, and ease of use are all great. I would consider carrying these in a travel/quick paint watercolor kit instead of a small pallette. They also include a carrying case (like a traditional pen set), and that's super convenient. This set also included a water brush, which is helpful.I did notice that some pens were dry upon arrival. Because they're water based, it's easy enough to dip them in some water like a traditional brush and get them back in working order.Another thing that may discourage some people is the tendency for these brushes to fray. A few of them were frayed when they arrived. This can also be remedied by gently reshaping the brushes using hot water (not hot enough to melt the synthetic brush fibers, but hot enough to make them pliable) and your fingers. I personally don't mind the fraying. It will depend on your personal situation to decide whether or not the time taken to fix these issues is worth the low price point.I think these are good for someone who is doing simple watercolors, for a kid's art set, or beginner brush calligraphy. They're not great for detailing or perfectly smooth writing, but I think that's alright!PROS -Vibrant colorsConvenienceEase of useGood bleedGood blendingCarrying caseBonus water brushCONSFrayingPotential drying

Impressed!
I bought these in October of 2018 as a hobby. I used them approximately one time and abandoned ship. Between kids, a cross country move and more kids, these brush pens haven’t seen the light of day in 4-1/2 years. My kids have a Valentines party and of course no valentines to give because of procrastinator mom. I whipped these bad boys out and said a prayer and they worked beautifully!!!! They write so smoothly. I am just in awe! 10/10, will buy again!

Good assortment of colors & a good price.
These will be a Christmas gift, along with some art books for my son. I chose them, because the price was good, the packaging was vibrant, and there was an assortment of colors. After my purchase, I saw that some of the reviews noted issues with the pens, so I thought I'd better test mine and see how they do.I found the colors to be vibrant. I like the assortment of Earth tones, because I have an artist who likes to draw a lot of monsters and fantasy creatures. Each pen functioned as expected, there were no quality issues. The plastic storage envelope is great, and I'm happy with the purchase. Given the price point for some watercolor pen sets, this seems to be a good deal. I'll update if appropriate.

Versatile and Easy
I love the product, however several of the tips were frayed making it difficult to draw fine lines. Other than that they’re great. I use them in my acrylic paintings for shading and highlighting mainly, but I’ve also done watercolor drawings with them, they’re definitely versatile.

Great Value
I am a school teacher and have a 3 year old son that loves art. I tried this with my three year old tonight as I have never used water color brush pens and I am now sold on them. They worked so well for my son painting and he loved dipping the color pens in water then spreading it on the paper. I am probably going to buy another set for my classroom.
