Is this safe battery operated or does it need to plugged into an electrical outlet?

It's battery operated, and has an auxiliary, external battery pack in case the batteries in the safe were to completely discharge. There is also a backup key to open the safe regardless of the battery status. Hope this helps.

No it doesn't come with cards. You can use any card as long as it has a magnetic strip. There's no need to program anything.

No it does not lock automatically. You have to enter your code, because that code will be used to open the safe.
