Henaff French Pork Pate de campagne, Country Pate - 130 grams (4 PACK)

I question how well folks who have reviewed this poorly know paté. I have eaten plenty of paté and spent time in France. People have to realize this is tinned paté. This is what you keep in the pantry for the kids or yourself when you are bushed and don't want to bother to cook yourself a dinner. For that purpose, I find it to be excellent. It's a fairly course grind (as country paté should be. here are visible chunks of fate, pieces of vegetable, and pockets of fat (which is exactly as it should be IMHO. The flavor is mild, but has some complexity. The liver part of the flavor is mild (again, as it should be). If you are expecting a very fine force on the grind (like a mousse, this isn't the one you want). If you are expecting something that taste as magical as a fresh paté from your local French bakery or perhaps the deli of your Whole Foods, this isn't it. If you want a shelf stable paté you can leave in your pantry and break out after a long day or work with some pickles and olives a chunk of cheese and glass of red wine, and spend all of 5 minutes preparing it, this will totally scratch that itch. In my opinion, it will do so admirably. One can will deliver two fairly hearty servings or a single serving for a big appetite or serious hunger. I had mine with baguette, Maille mustard, and dressed a few toasts with truffled hot sauce. It was excellent. I will definitely replenish my cans when they are out, this one is a keeper. Can't wait to try it on a bahn-mi sandwich. I have also tried to Flower brand, which I found to be quite good too, however it is much more tight grind and much more like a mousse-style texture. I personally like course better.

Henaff makes the best pates! This doesn't taste too livery, it's nice, not grainy or thin or gritty. It has the faintest aroma of Armagnac brandy without being whiffy or fake heavy alcohol taste. Even people who don't like liver pate will love this. It's very thick, not runny, this is real, quality meat! I buy it just for myself, but if you want to impress someone, this is the stuff to get. A very good price on this here, too! You get the value of your money.

Just so average flavor, could have passed it for a plain canned meat bought at any grocery store.

Excellent pork paté, great taste. It is a pure delight on grilled bread

The basic heneff product (in blue box) is very good, but I am very disappointed by this one which is even more expensive than the basic one. Won't buy it again.

I had brought some back from France. I needed more for guests. I took a chance and ordered it through Amazon. It was as good as what I purchased in France. I recommend it. Delicious!

I've had pate before and i have really liked it..i don't know about this one....... The bottom had collected all the fat.. i stirred it and gave it a try ...i didn't like it that much and i was also repulsed by it ... I bought 3 cans so i was very disappointed .....
