GP-RG27 Baroque Art Gilders Paste, 1 Ounce, Rich Gold

I am refinishing a lot of furniture and decor items right now. I use both this and rub n buff , depending on the job. No, they are not the same. Gilders wax is a wax and should be applied like a wax: allowed to dry and buffed. It can be manipulated ( to an extent) after application and takes time to dry. Run n buff has wax in it but is more concentrated and must be rubbed in to the required finish as it is applied. I find it more difficult to control than the gilders waxes on absorbent surfaces like wood. One of my current projects is refinishing several antique tole ( metal) light fixtures. I have found that this wax, when applied over paint, can be polished to a remarkable soft glow, which will no doubt greatly enhance the candelabra fixtures once installed. The rub n buff is unbeatable for application on raw ( alcohol cleaned) metal. It cures quickly to an authentic metallic finish. I haven’t tried it on ceramic yet, but would expect a good result. Next week, I plan to use Gilders wax over completely cured ( 4 days to be safe?) rub n buff to get a mottled, antique pewter finish. I love the control and glowing finish I get from gilders wax. I love the workhorse quality of rub n buff.

Gilders Paste is the best! I use it almost daily in my jewelry making. Great quality and texture, with great coverage. It lasts forever and is easily reconstituted with mineral spirits.

I saw this product used on a TV show and thought it would be an interesting thing to try for my woodworking and restoration projects. It is absolutely awesome and adds a lift to the patina and quality of any piece. The hard part is not using too much.

Purchased this to add an antique look to a piece of furniture I was up-cycling. It definitely got the job done and the piece looks gorgeous!

It worked fine. I used this instead of French Gilding Wax, which is recommended when using Annie Sloan chalk paint. What I read on line is the "paste" is a wax, so it interchanged with the 'Gilding Wax' just fine. It's a lot cheaper than the French Gilding Wax, which is sold by Annie Sloan stockists. Used my finger to smear on gold highlights on a small table. Looks beautiful. This color is a deep/more subdued gold color compared to the 'bright' Inca gold. I read some other reviews about how the product was shipped and how it arrived. Those reviews were correct! I bought 3 colors of the paste. They came in a large box with a few air bubbles packages. The little paste cans knocked all around the box and the wax came out of the tins. It was a mess, but each color was basically still in one piece because they were frozen from being outside on my porch. They really need to package these better. All they need to do is put a little tape around the lid!! I put my paste back in the tin cans and put all of them in a ziplock bag so they won't dry out. Only got 4 stars due to the poor packaging.

This gives an awesome finish. I’ve bought this in the past and in different colors. I’ve used on leather, metal, and wood.

I LOVE this gilder's past! Just a little smear here & there in the grooves of the Legs and along the bottom routed part of the top. So easy to use and even though this container is small it will last forever because you only need a little to get the effect your looking for! Beautifully transparent but can be more opaque if you go over it a few times.

Easy to use. Took two coats to get the look I wanted.
