Union With God: Including 22 of Madam Guyon's Poems (Library of Spiritual Classics) [Guyon, Jeanne] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Union With God: Including 22 of Madam Guyon's Poems (Library of Spiritual Classics) Review: Wow, want to really know Him?! - This book took me to places in God I would have never went on my own. I mean wow talk about sharing the journey. This book takes you into the depths of walking with Him in a way Iโve never seen or heard. Eternally grateful! Review: a needed book - Madame Jeanne Guyon, a 17-century French Catholic, was a controversial figure in her own day, and continues to be so. This paperback edition of her book Union With God is published by a Protestant publisher. It is the only English edition I am aware of. In this book, Madame Guyon speaks to Christians about contemplative prayer and its various stages, including its advanced development. What she has to say is especially pertinent to those following a path of abandonment. I myself have found this book very interesting because Madame Guyon describes experiences that can be encountered on the contemplative journey that other spiritual writers usually do not speak of, or do not speak of in the same way.

and wander what itโs like to born-again and how to get there
If you seek rebirth and enlistment. If you want to be truly born-again in Christ, and wander what itโs like to born-again and how to get there, this is the book. Madam Puyon described the distinct phases of her transformation, from baring her own cross daily and dying to herself, till the Lord daell in her heart like the Song of Solomon. Itโs a tremendous blessing to read her writings and her life testimony. May readers be blessed by her writing like me.

Jeanne has been my spiritual mentor and I have read I believe all of her books to include the wonderful "Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ" This book I believe was written later in her life and while she was imprisoned in the infamous Bastille...it is for one who has risked journeying further into the spiritual walk. I rated it a 5 because I believe it is.

Madame Guyon: Union with God
I just finished reading the book and even though it was somewhat difficult to read, (English is my second language), I coudn't put it down. However, this book will be interested only to the readers who are searching for deep spiritual literature. The Bible is the Word of God without a doubt and I read it daily, but reading Madame Guyon's experiencing and walking with God, has made my spiritual walk stronger. I'm planning on reading more of Guyon's books.

Far deeper in concept and application but for those who have experience in the interior or have done a fair amount of reading on the subject, it will provide greater enlightenment on the path to unity and union with God.

deep but can be misunderstood
It's a wonderful spiritual book can help us grow to love God but it also can be misunderstood or confused by the language if the person does not have the experience or the relationship with God.

Book content will be 4-5 stars given it is a difficult topic, and book shares a great perspective. Wish there was a separate review for book print quality, which is 1-star - Book bought from "Repro Books-On-Demand" does not seem like original print because of following reasons: 1. Page 41 and 56 in different font from rest of the pages, screen-shot attached (book publisher page specifies Times New Roman 12pt). 2. Only 21 poems included, not 22 as the cover specifies.

Very educative for individual spiritual development thereby you understand the Holy Spirit more and you start upholding God ,have a grasp on the knowledge of God ,u really need to read over and over to grasp the knowledge of God ,am reading it again to get it properly . Madam Guyon is really very deep in spiritual things with experience I suppose for I have read her biography and her writings are for the spiritual mature for u are to really really abandon yourself to God as Jesus did on the cross to almighty God. Try to know Christ more to understand this book.

I did not like this book. I am amazed at all the positive reviews. I obviously do not "get" it perhaps. Basically this book is a detailed account on the loss of "self" or ego. To me, it sounds like the Christian equivalent to Buddhist or Hindu "enlightment". Reading Union With God reminded me of all the Buddhist meditation books I have read. But I don't know...while reading I was struck with the question as to why do I have to go through all that Jeanne Guyon describes to have "union" with God? For the past year I have been praying the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, and it seems to be a healthier, more enriching way to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ than Jeanne Guyon's method. Some concerns: chapter 3 really concerned me. She writes that the more you move to your centre, the more desolation you will feel, which is the end of self-nature. Also, she describes how the enemy attacks from all sides, and as you progress you find yourself unable to protect yourself, until finally you realize that the enemy is your "best friend and truest friend". I am wondering if she is saying that your self-nature perceives God as the enemy and then in the end you find out it's God, not your enemy. But, I am not sure, and it would be dangerous to find out it is the enemy. The reason I am not sure because she also says in Chapter 3 that every Christian virtue disappears, and as they depart you lose all joy within. In Chapter 6, I was confused with Jeanne Guyon's description of how God apparently causes suffering of the older Christian mentor so that the younger Christian can grow in her union with Him. How does she know this? I thoroughly enjoyed reading Guyon's Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ, though there were a few cautions I did have in that too. Especially the ending from SeedSowers, which explains the translation process and provided a sample of Guyon's actual text. The actual text was very complicated and confusing and I wondered then and do so now, that perhaps the translators could have made errors trying to understand and communicate in common English what Guyon wrote. I would caution readers on this book. I liked Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ and her autobiography, but Union With God doesn't sit right with me. As a practicing and devoted Christian, I honestly don't think you need to go through Guyon's process to have a deep and fulfilling relationship with Christ.
