Will this adapter work with a newer usb c (not usb a) to lightning cable ?

No. It is designed to convert a newer ightning cable to the old style 30 pin connector only

Assuming your old touch uses a 30 pin connection and your car has a lightning connector you will be able to play music from the touch. Regarding the car screen controlling the touch,I would say you have a 65% it will work. (You can always return it if it doesn't work. )
