How is this different from glucosamine hydrochloride?

The are three common and different forms of glucosamine supplements including glucosamine hydrochloride, glucosamine sulfate and N-acetyl-glucosamine. Most research is focused on Glucosamine Sulfate. N-acetyl-glucosamine is often used to alleviate issues with intestinal permeability. Glucosamine sulfate and Glucosamine hydrochloride are generally used to alleviate issues with connective tissue especially joints, tendons, etc. Some theorize that it is the higher sulfur content that provides the benefit. Glucosamine hydrochloride in substances such as synovial fluid, and some theorize that this will increase the levels and provide an anti-inflammatory effect--but research on this is still ongoing. Since many people may have undiagnosed digestive issues, NAG will provide some benefits for both digestive support and joint support.

Can this be used topically in skincare products?

I use it in a DIY serum with niacinamide and HA (both also from Bulk Supplements), and I really like it. I assume that if a product is food grade, it is fine for topical application. Hope this helps!
