Allen Carr's Easy Way for Women to Lose Weight: The original Easyway method Review: An EasyRead! - The Easyway is sensational. I feel like I’ve overcome my food addiction by the time I finished reading the book. I can’t recommend this book enough. Everyone should read it. If not applicable to you, you might become more sensitive and knowledgeable of the problems society presents mankind with marketing foods that are not food at all. This book is enlightening. I feel empowered. This book’s message aligns with the philosophy that the purpose of life is to learn how to live happily. I’m ready to go for it!! Review: You are not incurable!!!! - If you know you know. And if you don’t know, then start reading. I quit smoking with Allen carr’s book exactly 4 years ago today and coincidentally coincidentally just finished the lose weight book today. The worst mistakes I make about reading these books is I hesitate to read them because I can’t imaging my life without my addictions. It seems impossible to have something that seems so difficult all the sudden change to easy. But it does and I know it seems completely unbelievably impossible and I must be some alien from another planet or that whoever is reading this is incurable but NO and it will happen for you too. Just open it up and go. Don’t be scared, don’t hesitate, open your mind and open the book.

Effective message, but a little extreme for me.
I got this book after reading his Easy Way To Quit Drinking for Women, which I thought was great and so far I have not had any desire to drink (though I wasn't a super heavy drinker to begin with; I just wanted to stop altogether because it was doing nothing for me). I am a little more than halfway done, and it's the same exact principles but it has shifted my view of eating a little, namely no temptation for actual junk food like fast food, chips, soda etc. I'm not a big junk food eater, but I had a nightly habit of eating processed foods while watching TV after dinner and have been feeling super bloated from that, so this book is definitely helping me nix that habit. And if that's all it does for me, that's great. However, he classifies meat, dairy, and grains as "junk" too. I generally don't eat much dairy because my stomach can't tolerate it and not a huge red meat fan, but I'm Asian and I do eat rice in moderation and although it is a white carb, in my book, it's not equal to McDonald's. So it tends to lean more vegan which right now, I don't feel I'm ready to do. I still think eating salmon, some rice, and treating yourself once in a while is completely healthy (he does say we have a junk margin, to be fair, and can enjoy these things within that margin). I also genuinely did enjoy the taste of oysters and coffee the first time trying them (maybe because I was older), so I didn't relate to the part where he says our bodies are repulsed by these things cuz they're bad for us (and I don't consider either to be unhealthy unless you're adding tons of sweetener or sugar to your coffee). So this book wasn't as good as the alcohol one to me, BUT I still think it's very helpful in reiterating the fact that (actual) junk food often makes us feel guilty and physically ill... he reiterates this a ton which is good, because it has made these things much less desirable. I also agree with his belief that we should not obsess about a number on a scale or obsess about burning calories with exercise. I'd recommend this, especially if you are struggling with overeating junk food/binge eating etc.

Incredible dose of common sense
I have never read a book on any subject where I was left feeling more empowered. Easy, simple and life changing! Thank you for finally making sense of it all for me. 56 years old and looking forward to my future life of healthier living at my ideal weight. What a burden you've lifted from my life. Thank you. I guess I should thank actor James Spader and Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show because he mentions how he quit smoking reading your book during his interview and even though I don't smoke he made mention of wanting to try your weight loss book as well. Ten minutes later I was reading Allen Carr The Easy Way for Women to Lose Weight on my kindle. I read it all in two days in fact I couldn't stop reading it! I was amazed! Thank you and thank you James Spader... Never thought I'd ever say that! Ha ha!

Lots of good info that makes sense
I ordered this book after a friend told me about her success quitting smoking when reading his book about that addiction. There is a lot of great information in this book concerning our eating habits and how to easily change those to better options, but I struggle with the suggestion to not eat until you feel 'real' hunger-he explains what real hunger is- when this means you're basically going into starvation mode regularly, which only slows your metabolism down. Isn't that the opposite of what you want - unless of course when you do actually eat you only eat what he suggests- fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. All in all it makes sense and has great, logical suggestions to stop eating (and moreso craving!) junk food.

Easy reading good information
Quality book very helpful not a fad diet. Not a diet at all. It's a philosophy of how we eat, why we over eat etc.

Oh, if I’d only read this decades ago!
I finished Carr’s book Quit Drinking for Women and, as of this writing, have been free of my nightly wine habit for ten days. I also quit drinking coffee and gave up my tortilla chip habit after reading that one. Now I’m working through several of the eating books. It really was the Easyway. Now I’m working through the eating books and finding success with this as well. I’m largely following the recommendation to eat fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, with a few extras and feel great. You really do need to keep an open mind with this. There is some repetition but it is necessary to overcome all the horribly wrong, repetitious messages we’ve received about eating. Learning to see healthy eating as a great thing, not a sacrifice, is key. Allen walks you through this. It really might just change my life.

Do Not Buy!
I tried to return this book, but missed the window for returns. I cannot understand all the positive reviews. Here's the book in a nutshell: If you only eat raw fruits, raw vegetables, nuts, and seeds - as nature intended - you will lose weight. Duh. But here's the part that's really stupid: The "easy" way to kill your desire to eat anything else...just realize that you've been brainwashed to think that all other foods (junk foods, meat, dairy, eggs, any cooked foods, grains, pasta, bread, etc.) taste good and then decide for yourself that they really don't taste good. Oh, OK. How easy!! And don't worry if you're the one in charge of grocery shopping and cooking for your family. Once you've explained to them how they've been brainwashed, too, they'll get right on board.
