Irodori Artist Gouache - Autumn, Set of 12, 15 ml, Tubes

I love Holbein's gouache and have been using it for about a year. Their gouache is excellent quality and not as pricy as some out there. This set has beautiful colors, including convenience colors, but easily mixed for a full range of hues. Also, the paints offer excellent coverage or opaqueness, a characteristic of gouache. The tubes are good-sized, 15 ml., so one gets plenty of paint.

I have the major brands and like these the best for the consistency. They are thick enough to cover, and don't have obvious fillers... You could thin and do some washy, watercolor-like effects with these. I don't know if they have honey. Some of the colors are just slightly sticky, but they are more fluid than say, Da Vinci, and while I like Da Vinci, these are a better consistency out of the tube for painting, but they wet down nicely, and they re-wet nicely and haven't cracked on the palette once dry. I haven't used a gouache that seems so loaded with pigment. And the colors in these seasonal sets are gorgeous. I don't usually go for mixed colors, but these palettes are gorgeous. The tubes are expensive, but these 40ish dollar sets are well worth the price, as are the 15 and 24 sets... A lot of the negative feelings people have about gouache is due to having used dry, bad gouache... These are lovely and mostly opaque. The orange yellow was the only one that leaned transparent.

High quality and rich pigmentation.

I already love Holbein watercolors, and have been super into gouache lately, so ordered this set. I am in love. Very vibrant and extremely high quality paint. Goes on smooth, a little goes a long way, and lovely opacity that layers effortlessly both wet and dry. Tubes are pretty standard but easy to open and well labelled, and the paint does not dry chalky. I love the unique colors the set came with, they would be tricky colors to mix exactly right, and most are hues I find myself wanting often. Plus the box is lovely without being too big or flimsy to store long term. I cannot recommend this set enough!

Beautiful colors!

Very Opaque, Creamy, Dreamy and Delightful Gouache. Easy to use. Highly pigmented, beautiful colors. Can be used as traditional Gouache, opaque watercolor and printmaking. I bought all of four of Holbeins' irodori sets. I used these paints on mix media paper and love them. Can't say enough about these. Love the traditional Japanese colors; more realistic when painting nature. I put these in a palette with a drop of water in each color half pan and then in a Ziplock plastic bag and they are still wet a couple of days later. The price on Amazon was incredible. Great buy. It is highly pigmented with rich vibrant colours and has a luxurious matte finish.
