Does it work with powder?

It does, but you would need to place a cup under each slot in order for the powder to be caught by something other than the drip tray. It is also not very sturdy so I would be nervous with powder.

Do these crush big sized cereal like cinnamon toast crunch or lucky charms?

They do break up some of the big cereals like fruit loops

Do these work with candy - like Mike and Ike’s or gum balls?

I think it would probably work better yes, also you might consider removing one of the flaps for an easier dispense.
