Mild Red Pepper Seasoning, 5 lb - One 5 Pound Container of Bulk Red Pepper Powder for Cooking, Perfect in Sauces, Soups, Egg Dishes and More

I love spicy food. I use for chicken wings and some seafood. It taste so delusion.

I find that I can use 1-2 tablespoons of this in a dish, and it doest get too hot. More of an undertone of warmth, with the gentle flavor of paprika.Once added to a dish, the resulting taste is warm not hot, though that may depend on how much is used and what other spices are used. I tried it plain off the tip of my finger, and it was spicy as expected. Don't do that, haha. I then proceeded to use it in a modified "Hungarian" goulash. I tend us copious amount of paprika, and I like to finish it with a sprinkle of something spicy, whether it be cayenne, red pepper flakes, or some other spice with a mildly hot profile. This Paprika and Red Pepper blend seemed like it would be a dream combo for my dish, and for others that benefit from this flavor and heat profile. I like it. My Asian dishes will benefit from a more low key heat. Happy to have this.Giant container. Rather excited by this because I actually go through a lot of paprika, and to a lesser degree red pepper. I like that this isnt flaming hot, so this will likely be used nearly as much as the addition of red pepper just works really well with it. Paprika is one of those spices that I find work best in larger amounts.I dont rate on price, and I know McCormick usually is a tad more costly over other brands (not always), but i am rather surprised that the price per ounce is as high as it is for a bulk sized 5 lb container. ($0.85 or $0.73 with S&S).

This is a nice blend of paprika and red pepper. It is warm and flavorful, and has a mild spicy kick to it. It is a fine powder with a vivid, orangey red color. I used it on my eggs and fries, and imparted a flavorful taste with a subtle hint of paprika and a mild spicy heat. I like that it has no salt, MSG, or any other additives. I could easily incorporate it to my own BBQ rubs without additional sodium, sugar, etc. This comes in a large, translucent clear bottle with a built-in handle. It is factory sealed under the lid as expected. The opening is wide and easy to scoop the desired amount out. For what it's worth, my has a best before date of 11/2023. The ingredients are paprika and red pepper only. The quality seems really good and fresh. Overall, I'm really pleased with this product. Well-balanced flavor and slight spicy heat. Versatile!

The first thing to say about this product is: It's pure. Just 2 ingredients, paprika and pepper. That's what I want when buying a good quantity of a spice. Our family has accumulated a lot of recipes involving paprika, partly because of friends in eastern Europe who long ago convinced us of the culinary value of paprika. Then, the peppers in this mix are not super-hot. This is a good standard mixture we can use in a whole lot of recipes from chilies to eggs to grilled meat and seafood.Very pleased with this jug.If you're worried about not using it within a year or so, then you might go in on a jug with family members if you sometimes share ingredients like this. And one final tip: While we never keep spices in our 'fridge, it is possible to extend the life of a quantity of spice like this by sealing a quantity of it air-tight and storing it in your freezer. We've done that over the years and find it works well.

I use red pepper and paprika in just about every rub I make, whether it is for beef, pork, chicken and going on the grill, in the smoker, or the oven. This is a nice blend of soft heat paprika that will serve as a base for any rub. Ground red pepper can range in heat, but it typically falls in the Cayenne or milder range (is usually Cayenne). On a taste test straight out of the jar, I am left with the impression that this is in fact a milder hot red pepper with a fresh but somewhat flat paprika -some paprikas are earthy, some are noticeably sweet, and some (like this) are more for coloring than for flavor. It has flavor, but not enough to overshadow the star players in the other ingredients -unlike a smoked Hungarian paprika which does tend to steal the show. Perfect for a base with which to mix your other ingredients for a BBQ championship rub, or good out of the jar to dust a rotisserie chicken.

There are only two ingredients in this mild red pepper seasoning—paprika and red pepper—no fillers or additives or salt. The large 5 pound plastic tub has an easy to grab handle and it arrives with a tight foil seal over the opening ensuring it arrives fresh and untouched. It has a good flavor and the heat level is mild so it should work well for most users and in a wide range of cuisines and dishes. Great for everything from refried beans, soups, stews, marinades, sauces, etc. To estimate shelf-life at the time of this review in June 2022 the Best By date is 11 months in the future but dates will vary.

Review of McCormick Culinary Mild Red Pepper Seasoning, 5 lbs @ $68.39 at time of order and $68.22 at time of reviewVisit the McCormick Culinary StoreYes, 5lbs of mild red pepper seasoning is a lot of seasoning. This is probably more of a restaurant sized bottle, but you could also share it with your family, especially if you have several that love to cook as I have in mine. Lots of potential ways to use this in cooking. McCormick is a trusted brand to me, and this is no exception. I did not find any dislikes about this product although it is pricey (but seasoning is pricey, and this is 5lbs).I hope that this helps someone decide whether or not to order this product.

I'm a huge fan of paprika. It gives such a mild, yet potent flavor to so many different dishes! This is a great blend of paprika and red pepper. It does have a bit more "punch" to it than I was expecting! Fortunately I like my food a little on the spicy side, but if you don't you may want to skip this. It is by no means "hot" but does have a bit more spice than regular old paprika. This is a huge container and is perfect for commercial kitchens or just people who like to cook/buy in bulk!
