Hello, and thanks for asking) The straws are covered with food-grade lacquer for the shine and to prevent tarnishing from the outside only. The inside is pure uncovered copper. I checked the ones that I've been using for half a year - they show no signs of oxidation inside. Since it is impossible to dry then from the inside - I usually rinse them with water and shake the water away from the inside of the straw. works good!
