I rarely endorse products, just try different thinks and stick with what I like and that's that. UNTIL NOW. I tried a sample of this at CVS in the pharmacy and picked up a brochure. As an RN who washes my hands constantly, in addition to the frequent drying action of hand sanitizer 100's of times day, I have fought dry painful hands for years. In winter, it is just 10x worse. Gloves in a Bottle does exactly what they say it does. It coats and transforms your outer dermis to form a protectant barrier and smooth, smooth hands and knuckles. When I went back to CVS the next day after marveling at the overnight transformation of my hands, the remaining bottles were gone. So I hopped on Amazon and ordered my own big bottle. Since it was December, I realized this miracle was the perfect gift for my Mother and Mom In Law and had bottles sent to them. I purchased Avon Silicone Glove hoping for a cheaper alternative to Gloves in a Bottle and was disappointed. It smelled strongly like baby lotion or diaper cream. On the other hand, I actually love the way Gloves in a Bottle smells (it does not contain added fragrance or perfume, that's just the way it smells). Avon was just like any other regular lotion and came off as soon as it touched water, becoming very slippery. Perhaps the biggest benefit has been that Gloves in a Bottle helps heal and protect the dyshidrotic eczema on my fingertips. See pictures - no filters were applied to the images. It was hard to focus the camera while using only my non-dominant hand, but the pics were taken within a few minutes of one another. Without Gloves in a Bottle, my fingertips are hard scales of dry, peeling, painful skin. After applying this lotion, the scales are softened, peel much less frequently, and don't hurt anymore. I have tried many, many other lotions, creams, and salves in an attempt to get the right one. Corn Huskers Lotion didn’t become slick even when washing my hands, but was not nearly moisturizing enough. Bag Balm was highly moisturizing but way too greasy and heavy. It would stay on through washing mostly because it repelled water (which meant I probably wasn't able to clean my skin either). Curel Ultra Healing lotion and Gold Bond Eczema Relief hand cream soothed the dry scales but immediately washed off if wet and would pose a hazard if I tried to pick up a cold drink with condensation on it. Gloves in a Bottle is the undisputed winner. I will happily pay the higher price because nothing else works as well as this. It's the only one that does it all - moisturizes dry skin, soothes eczema, is not perfumed, and doesn't compromise grip. The relief lasts for hours even though I wash my hands frequently while cooking, gardening, cleaning, and handling my pets. An unexpected bonus is it does appear to allow grime to come off a little easier if my hands get dirty grease stains from tinkering on my vehicles. After trying the knockoff and many others, I've found no substitute for Gloves in a Bottle. It's the original and the best.

Words cannot describe how amazing Gloves in a bottle is. I was gifted a bottle by my wife over a year ago and I mistakenly set it aside thinking it was the same as all other lotions on the market. This year, we started walking to work with frigid wind chills and the backs of my hands have been cracking and bleeding like never before. I was desperate, I was using multiple alternative lotions and O'keefe's working hands, but I was always dissatisfied with the delay in results and the residue they all left on my hands long after applying. I find that at least one application before work and one application before bed really helps and applying every 4 hours as the bottle indicates works wonders. I work as a barista for a corporate company and recently began having severe reactions to the dish detergent and sanitizing chemicals (mostly from the wrist and down my hands). I have tried a number of lotions - working hands, eczema relief types, Aquafore, salves and lotions from Burt’s bees... and my hands either had an even more painful response/reaction or just maintained. I was skeptical of this brand due to my reactions from other name brands but ended up getting the smallest size bottle to sample. I actually bought heavy duty dish gloves recently and in combination of the two... my hands have had a HUGE improvement. They are not back to normal completely... but the red irritation similar to dermatitis has gone down to my normal skin complexion and my hands are no longer in excruciating pain. I wash my hands a lot and I still try to reapply this lotion (even though it says it’s unnecessary) due to the amount of chemicals around my store. I am noticing that my fingers are the areas that the lotion comes off the most (more than likely due to the amount of sanitizer I handle on rags and such) - but I am thoroughly delighted and pleased by the effects so far. My husband has eczema and I have asked him to try this lotion as well, in addition to his medicated prescribed creams. Hopefully we can see good results there as well. First time I have bought this size, but I have bought smaller units in the past. The product is very good, I wish it was less expensive, but it doesn't wash off every time a wash my hands and seems to take less to cover than classic lotions. I seem to get less hangnails and cuticle issues when I remember to re-apply a small amount at every hand washing. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't completely wash off like typical lotions, but putting a little on every time my hands are clean seems to make it more effective. This particular product, the 16 ounce bottle doesn't dance around and tip as much as the smaller bottle so it is more convenient. And although still not cheap, it is a better value than the 8 ounce bottles. I got my first sample of Gloves in A Bottle from my dermatologist years ago. He gave me a whole basket of free samples of different products, and the one that worked was Gloves in a Bottle. I was handling a lot of corrugated cardboard boxes and my hands were literally cracking everywhere. Biggest problem I had was finding someone who sold product. Both places I found no longer sell it as best I can tell, so I get it on the internet. I considered getting the gallon size from Amazon, it is a slightly better price, but they show the fluid ounce price as being $0.04, which is totally wrong. So do your own math. I am now using it on my legs and arms, Colorado is so dry that my skin cracks and I look like an alligator. I use about a fourth of what I used of an Aloe lotion that seemed to work well.

I am a guy and I hate having my hands smell like a botanical garden and I absolutely despise the greasy mess normal lotions leave. I found this stuff a few years back and there is a slight scent, but it is not a perfume smell so it doesn't smell like I just shoved my hand in a bowl of scented candle wax. The lotion absorbs quickly and does not leave that greasy feel like other lotions. It lasts for quite some time also. They show on the bottle how it shields your hands and they are not kidding. You can apply this lotion and after a couple of hours, go wash your hands and you can still feel the lotion there protecting your hands. My only two complaints are that it is not the cheapest lotion out there for sure and if you try to find it in town, it can be difficult to track down.

My wife and I are potters and nothing dries our hands out faster than clay and glaze. It's very difficult to wear latex gloves while forming the sometimes very small pieces of pottery or throwing larger pieces on the wheel. Our problems have been solved by Gloves in a Bottle. This lotion is a little wonder! Our hands are not only easier to clean, but the lotion serves as a softener and cuticle conditioner. My wife noticed that her fingernails have become less dry and cracked and are actually growing stronger since we've been using Gloves in a Bottle. It's great to use while gardening, painting and tackling other grimy chores. Our local grocery store sold out in their pharmacy department, so we were happy to find it on Amazon. Also, we're looking forward to using the pump bottle. It isn't great to be using dirty, sometimes slippery hands to open a plastic bottle - even one with a push open top! This should be just one more great feature of an ideal product.

I am a professional floral designer and needlework enthusiast. I first found ‘Gloves..’ in a needlework shop about 4 years ago and have been using it ever since. I use this product at work to protect my hands while I’m doing floral designing. It’s especially useful when working with branches that are very dirty or contain a lot of sap. I use it at home to soften and moisturize my hands before doing needlework. There is no greasy residue to be transferred to the needlework or any fine sewing I might be doing. I also really like it for protecting my skin before going outside in the dry winter air or before gardening during the rest of the year. This is a excellent product for protecting hands that are often wet or washed excessively and need to be softened so that the skin does not snag on fine fibers. It may seem to be expensive but really isn’t; a little goes a long way. You don’t get the same immediate moisturizing sensation that you get from regular hand lotions, but you do get protection that you will notice later. Absolutely love this product and highly recommend it.

Come fall, my fingers used to crack and bleed all the time. Started using this regularly and works great. Doesn't take a lot. Absorbs into the skin and doesn't leave a greasy film. Love it.

I got this as it promotes their claim that it doesn’t wash off. But it does. After applying to hands and letting it dry, after 10 mins my hands got wet and saw white liquid come off and felt my hand skin again as opposed the thin layer of the lotion prior to wetting and washing hands. I also feel that it doesn’t really moisturise either. At best if you keep your hands dry it does act as a layer of protection but not much else. Disappointed as my $2 supermarket moisturises as least does moisterise

Lots of people say this is moisturizing. I don’t find this to be the case. However I didn’t buy it for this or expect that. I understand the purpose of dimethicone (a silicone) and it is a barrier. Water doesn’t pass through silicone that well so I feel depending on the consumer, moisturizing before applying gloves in a bottle isn’t a bad thing, despite the instructions for clean hands. When I wear gloves for an extended period of time or really anything for than 30 minutes, my pinky finger breaks out in what looks like warts. I’ve since figured out it’s not and it is actually a dermatitis called pompholyx. I don’t see this mentioned much but in the event someone is having a reaction from wearing gloves that is what it is called. It get itchy and irritated and dries and flakes or disappears on its own. I was noticing it only showed up when I wore gloves for a bit. I need to wear gloves to reduce contact exposure to chemicals (nail technician). I found gloves in a bottle! It feels very drying I’m thr essence that it binds to your skin and if some of that is dry skin, then that skin will flake. I put an oil and/or a moisturizer on after washing my hands. Then immediately apply this. I find it still does the job it’s supposed to and won’t cause excessive skin peeling. (My skin does not peel on its own). I attached a photo of a flaky peeled spot near my knuckle, and you can also see some skin lifting by my nails - which also rarely happens for me. I take this in stride over the pompholyx tho, and can attest that gloves in a bottle has prevented the irritation I would have developed wearing the gloves. I have additionally heard of people applying it on other parts of their body and have put it on my face. This does seem to help with my drier face from the changing weather. No extra dryness here. I think my hands are simply dry to begin with and need moisture under the ‘gloves in a bottle’.
