TL;DR GET IT! It's so helpful! Holds your keys tight until you need them. If you constantly need to access your keys or keychains, this is definitely a solid buy. Working overnight security at a museum, I deal with A LOT of keys and doors. Having them on a regular carabiner was a chore, and it was almost easier just to carry them around in my hand while doing my rounds (which take upwards of 45 min at times). $30 felt really steep for a carabiner, but I finally decided to bite the bullet and invest in this lil fella after a few weeks of debating, and man do I wish I had just pulled the trigger from the start! I've never once had my keys fall off (and it's a fairly heavy key set), but they come off effortlessly when I need them to. The carabiner itself is a bit hefty, but if you're someone who carries around a lot of EDC stuff like myself, the weight is negligible. It did take a little bit to get used to placing the clip into the carabiner without looking, but I quickly found that if you just hold it by the base of the pull tab, and just brush your fingers against the bottom of the carabiner, the magnet will do the rest of the work for you with a very satisfying snap. That being said, the magnet IS pretty powerful, and it will try to stick to anything on your keys that it can, like a hex key or other metallic objects, IF it's right next to it, but not if the item is hanging from the wire form itself, if that makes any sense. I could see this being a bit of an issue if you have a bunch of keychain clutter, but I generally slip my middle finger into the wire form and kind of palm the pull tab, so it never really has a chance to get jumbled in the first place. Originally I was worried that the pull tab would rip or start falling apart pretty quickly, but it's been about 5 months of constant use and it still looks and feels like the day I got it. The overall durability of the whole thing seems pretty great, there's only superficial scrapes and weathering on the black coating of the carabiner itself (which I think adds character), and even then it's minimal after daily use. If you just need something to hang off your belt/purse to get you to and from your front door to your car, by all means, keep doin' what you're doin' (I'd still recommend it just cause it's cool). But if you're constantly having to fiddle around in your pocket or with your carabiners and keychains, this is the one! I've included a video demonstrating how quickly you can access your keys, and how secure they are until you need them off.

I was looking for something to pair with my employee badge and be able to keep it on my backpack visible for when I ride into work on my motorcycle. I also needed some thing that I could quickly detach to be able to badge into my building. This carabiner really exceeded my expectations. It’s well-made, not too difficult to unlatch from my backpack, but still securely fastened. The magnetic FidLock system is really impressive. It’s very secure to the carabiner but also so simple to release. It will be perfect for coming and going from work without risk of losing my badge on the road.

This is an excellent Keychain system. The main featuer is the fidlock magnetic quick release. The only way to release it is to pull the tab. Otherwise, it just won't come off no matter how you pull or shake it. Removing and putting is on is super convenient and can be done with one hand and without looking. I have been debating between the 8 Timber and the alpaka version of this . I think it boils down to if ou need a carabiner or a clip. In general , if you want to hang it on your body or on the outside of a bag, I think the 8Timber's carabiner is more secure. However, if you want to hang it INSIDE a backpag or sling bag, a the clip version (i.e. alpaka) is better because most bags will have some kind of internal pocket that lets you clip on but not all bags will have internal hook for carabiner. One thing like the 8Timber over alpaka is the pull tab. 8Timber's pull tab is a thicking silicone material which feels more substantial and easier to pull. Also, 8Timber includes two pull tabs (black and orange ) for you to switch for different applicaions which is a nice bonus. The reason I give it 4 star is becaue of the weight. Just the carabiner portion is already 48g which is amost 2x the weight of that of alpaka's clip version. It would be nice if they can make a "lite" version. Overal, this is an excellent product and it's very useful and super convenient.

Love the way this works, the magnet is strong, the clip is sturdy and does not come unclipped while wearing it. I work in warehousing and move around a lot of materials by hand and bump into all sorts of things, this has yet to fall off even when my keys get stuck on something the magnet holds extremely well. Overall, very satisfied with my purchase and most likely will be buying again for my personal keys. Also not to mention this works good for tethering my fishing cutters/pliers to my PDF when I go fishing. so many uses for this carabiner combo/alternative.

Love this Clip. I have about 20 keys for my Job and have to clip on and off about 200-400 times a day. This clip is holding up very nicely. I have had it for several months and there is very little signs of wear (the silicon tab is starting to tear, which I have a plan for and they give you 2). It's very lightweight and the design of it makes it easy to use/open and also has a great lock feature (which is great as I run around all day and haven't lost my keys at all). The size is perfect as my keys are able to sit in my pocket while I run around (no jingle) :)

In all fairness, my son has one of these and loves it. It’s a well made piece. This is why it didn’t work for me: I wear my shirts untucked 99% of the time. You can’t effectively attach the magnetic clip with a shirt or coat in the way. I carry too many keys (13) for this clip to handle the weight. The strength of the magnetic clip is weakened with every ring or key that it magnetically attracts. This also causes tangles among keys or multiple rings on one clip. If you’ve got one ring with only one or two keys and your shirt is never in the way, this may work for you. For me it doesn’t and I’ll stick to a retractable lanyard.

Bought this on a whim one day and was very satisfied with what i got. Sturdy and solid where I dont think it will break on me from daily use. 8Timber exclusively sells this caribner style keychain. They also are unique that they come with the orange rubber pull tab (my preferred color),. The company Alpaka also uses this magnetic pull lock system in products. You can see I use the ID Card holder, pouch, and even tyhe Alpaka sling has an available slot. So alll of these products can use the keychain part interchangably. The strentgh is good enough where I have never had my kets sudddenly just fall off or even feel loose. I actually ordered these twice as I accidentally cut the orange pull tab whille not pating attention :( If you like the carribener style keychain and also use keys a lot, the magnetic pull system that is Fidlock is great (check out the waterbottles they gave too). If you want to further expand the versatility of it, you can get some Alpaka gear and incorporatee it into your EDC syystem.

I’ve compared this to the Orbitkey Clip v2 and the Alpaka clip. The build quality on this is excellent, and I cannot shake my keys off the Fidlock hooking system. I also cannot pull them off in any direction (I was worried that pulling the keys up would unlock the hook). The ONLY way to get your keys off is to grab the tab, so if you were worried about theft or security, don’t; this does an excellent job of holding onto your key ring. The weight of the carabiner is better than the other three in my opinion, but it is the heaviest. It looks great in all black, and the extra orange silicone tab is a nice touch. This one is also the shortest of them all, just in case you don’t like for your keys to dangle too far down, which could be problem with the Orbitkey Clip V2 and the Alpaka clip. Being the shortest lends itself best to being clipped a belt loop. Really happy with these and will be buying a couple more.

For a product at this price point you’d expect it to function right , sadly it doesn’t the little silver metal part that is supposed to keep the thing on your belt or whatever is flimsy and often pops out of place . Such that I don’t trust it sorry but failed its basic purpose

I've been on a quest to find the best way to carry my car keys. I need them easily accessed, but not in my pockets (which I use for other stuff). I've tried simple carabiners, hooks, magnets, etc. and this may just be the best I've found so far. I was originally considering the Orbitkey Clip v2, but the Terraclip is half the price (including shipping). I also bought the Alpaka HUB Keychain for a different method of attaching to things (clip vs hook/carabiner). The neat thing is, the Terraclip and HUB Keychain use the exact same Fidlock so they're completely compatible/interchangeable. I can now easily move my car keys between the Alpaka's clip, which is attached to my sling bag, and the 8Timber's carabiner on my pants' belt loop.
