So far, so good!
Iโve been ready to rip my carpet up itโs so flat, matted, and ugly and itโs less than 3 years old! I ran across a video on TikTok from a professional carpet cleaner but he used a more expensive brand. After reading reviews on both I decided to give this one a shot. Worst case scenario, I was out $18. It was delivered at 8:30 pm last night but I could not wait to try it! I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use (pull it in towards yourself, donโt try to push it forward). I tested a small area that gets the highest traffic. It may be hard to tell from the pictures but it looks almost new again. There was a very small, VERY flat area in the carpet that didnโt come back up much, but Iโll take it! My only concern is the durability of the handle. It seems a bit flimsy but I will update my review as Iโve used it more and done the whole house! If it can do my entire house then itโs money well spent!

Fluffs carpet, sort of removes hair
This works pretty good, though I am still suspicious of the plastic tines. It is a lot of work to get hair up, you have to go over the same areas multiple times. I put it up against my rubber bristled carpet rake today and I wrote about it later in this review. For some context, I have very long hair and it sheds constantly. I have carpeted stairs and three carpeted bedrooms and it's almost impossible to get the hair pulled up without a vacuum that has a spinning beater brush. The beater brush gets tangled up. I've burnt out motors on vacuums before so I never feel good about posting up big money for a proper large vacuum that might be able to handle it. I also don't have the strength, or the space for a big hog of a vacuum. I have a little cordless vacuum and while I am diligent about cleaning out the beater brush, it's not enough because my hair is long, and thick, and there is too much of it! I totally obliterated the brush on my newest little cordless and I am so sad. I already have one of those rubber bristled carpet rakes, and I had been using it but it is EXHAUSTING trying to use it to pull the hair out of the carpets before doing a proper vacuum. I have a little tiny canister vacuum that has been running strong since the day I bought it, but using it on the carpets is the same sweeping raking struggle to pull up the hair. So i thought I would save on the noise and electricity of a vacuum by using carpet rakes first. It takes so much effort. Today I used this Roberts carpet rake and then I used my rubber bristle rake. The Roberts rake can skim over the top of the carpet easier, with less struggle, than the rubber bristle brush. It also actually lifts up the carpet fibers (my carpets are very dense, but they are old and have been in this house since the 80s at least) so it's kind of nice to walk over the floor and experience it being lofty and bouncy before it quickly packs back down, haha But it seems like the rubber bristle rake actually pulls up more hair, like it can get a better grip on it and hold on. I went back over the same area I had already done about 3 times with the Roberts and pulled out significantly more hair (it's depressing that there is that much of my dang hair in the rug, how am I not bald yet? I do this regularly!) So, I don't know. It is easier to use, but you have to work it longer to get everything up. I was hoping to get rid of the rubber rake, but I think I'll have to keep both. TLDR; Roberts fluffs up the carpet, but rubber pulls up more hair.

Hello, old friend! My rug is back!
I have the Moroccan cut shag in my bedroom, itโs been in there for probably 2 1/2 years. Itโs been steam cleaned many times, gets vacuumed several times a week, but it had gotten to the point where it was just matted down, there was absolutely no dimension, you couldnโt even tell there was a pattern in the rug. It just looked like an old dirty shag carpet despite it being clean. I used the rug rake 3 minutes after it arrived. This was my last ditch effort before tossing the old rug and buying a new one. I wish I had taken a before picture because you could not see any pattern in there at all and now look at it. Money well spent. Sturdy plastic bristles, easy to use. I wanted to add that I had ZERO rug shedding when I used this, my rug is about 2 and a half years old.

Does not work for pilling rugs
I had high hopes for this, but it honestly didnโt work at all for what I needed. I bought it specifically to remove pilling from my carpet, and it barely made a difference. No matter how many times I went over the same areas, the pills were still there. It felt like it just skimmed over the surface without actually cutting or removing anything. I ended up spending way more time than expected for basically no results. Iโve seen fabric shavers work well on clothing, but this just didnโt have enough power for carpet, which is more heavy-duty. For me, it was a waste of money and pretty frustrating to use. Would not recommend if youโre trying to fix pilling on carpets or thicker materials.

released compacted old shag carpet
We are going to renovate and remove this old carpet eventually but until then I didn't know what to do. The shag carpet of old has become a compacted, dirty mess. I truly do not know how old the carpet is. I received the carpet rake today. I put it together and tried it right away. It's working! It's fluffing up the compacted parts of carpet where we walk the most and helping to pull up old debris and pet hair. My vacuum is going to hate me but this is great! With a little elbow grease (I rake the carpet hard) it should lift the rest of the compacted areas as well. None of the bristle tips on the rake broke during my rough raking. When I'm done raking and vacuuming I can then use a carpet cleaner. This rake will come in handy for keeping the shag rug usable and less disgusting until renovation.

Makes your carpet look brand new
I recently discovered this product when I was trying to work out a way to bring our living room carpet back to new after cleaning it. You do need to put in some physical effort but the results are brilliant and the carpet looks amazing and it feels even nicer to walk on. Loving this product.
