SR Memphis Blue Microphone
I play in an acoustic Irish folk punk band. Our stage setup uses two vocal mics for five guys moving around on stage, with all of us singing around the mics. We've been using AT-2035 condenser mics, which would be great if we were 100% acoustic, but our instruments are all electric or mic'd up. Therefore, the 2035's are just too hot for our stage setup and give our soundman unending headaches trying to keep them under control. We decided to switch out to dynamic mics, but we wanted something in a classic Unidyne style to continue in our style of circling around the mics when singing. After doing a bit of research, the SR Memphis Blue kept popping up in the comparisons to the Shure Super 55, SH-55, and a host of other imitators. (Monoprice has long been a go-to for sound equipment. They have amazing bang for the buck.) Fast forward to getting the mics delivered. This thing is built like a TANK. All metal and shiny chrome and heavy! (Do make sure you have a sturdy stand. These things are heavy big pigs.) They came in a hard case for transporting to gigs, which is a bonus. The moment of truth came when running a side by side comparison to the AT-2035 through our full PA. The AT was at it's usual borderline shreiking hotness, but when we fired up the Memphis, not only did we have the same polar proximity area, but we could also crank up the monitors without fear of waking the feedback banshees. We even had one of our mains pointed towards the mic, and it was a trooper. Good flat response, plosives are a little meh if you get in too close, but we're not mic eaters, so it's not a problem. All in all, great bang and looks for the buck! We'll circle back in a few months after gigging with them, but so far, it's been great!

Vintage style, super affordable
After looking at similar, vintage-style mics, I found Monoprice makes this one. As a guitarist, I know Monoprice has produced some great, cheap gear, and this is the same. The mic is solid and sounds really good, especially for live use. I think this is just about as good as a similar Shure mic, but at 1/3 of the cost. Huge value here. Response is good. The pop screen cuts plosives nicely. The cardioid pattern is pretty tight, with drop off happening just over an inch out of the center. I really like this, as it picks up very little of my guitar in the room. Note, the mount for the mic is very close to the cable jack, so it doesn't work well with all mic stands, and you may need to remove the tightening "daisy" on your stand to make it fit. I wish the pop screen wasn't bright blue, but something more neutral. Still, overall, an unbeatable value for this level of vintage style.

Unboxing โ new item, but scratch it on box
I gave it four stars because while the microphone itself appears good, the case itself is very scuffed up and the threading knob/bolt whatever you call it was loose in the box.

AMAZING MIC
I was a bit nervous about buying this mic, as I usually am when buying new tech. But I must say this mic is amazing. Looks beautiful and sounds better than my last vintage mic which cost me $160+. Highly recommended for anyone. Looks and sounds like a $1000 mic for less than a 100 dollars. Will update this if I see any issues going forward. Thanks for reading.

Wonderful nostalgic look and great pickup and sound for the price
I teach eschatology during a live video podcast on Facebook Live. Many of my friends and followers are unable to hear me due to numerous severe physical traumas I sustained from being beaten almost to death. I now suffer from hyperkyphoscoliosis, which has affected my breathing causing the inability to talk at the normal volume of others. This wonderful and beautiful microphone is exactly what I needed. It perfectly corresponds with the antique and vintage decor in my home where the live podcasts are done. The sound of the microphone is very professional and picks up my voice very well. I am very satisfied with my purchase of this item. I will reiterate that I love the nostalgic and vintage look of this microphone and again, it sounds as good as other studio microphones that are much more expensive. Thank you very much and shalom.

Nice looking, well made housing, and sounds OK but grille loose and rattles!
As soon as I saw it here I loved the look, but the moment I picked it up I noticed the front grille was loose and rattling. This is not a good thing for a mic to be doing! I checked the tiny screws holding the grille on and they appeared tight. My guess is either the screws are too long, or were not installed properly. Either way I'm not going to mess with it, as those tiny screws would be very easily stripped out if I tried to tighten them. Its hard to fathom how anyone would send this out of the factory this way. Now, as for the mic body, its very well made! I like the look and feel, and the finish very much. I did sound check it (holding the grill from rattling). And the mic sounds pretty good, although not well insulated from handling or stage deck noise. I'll return and re-order as I feel it's a good deal for what it is, and the problem with the grille could be a fluke.

Beautiful looking, adequate sound
The look and feel are awesome but the sound quality is what's expected for $50. I'm also comparing it to a Shure PG58. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a bad mic but I'm not a great singer and I need all the help I can get ๐. Although my stage cool factor would of went up with this sweet looking mic.

Impressive quality
I read good reviews on forums for this microphone and it delivers. Very well made, sounds as good as my plain but trusty SM58. Don't need exhaustive Eq, just plug and sing : ) I don't A/B it with a SH55 but I'm totally satisfied. And it looks awesome (but you already know this)!
