What Once We Loved (Kinship and Courage Series #3)

Such an excellent book 3rd one in the series..I got so involved in the story andThe characters I felt I knew them.Amazing how some people go out of there way to help each other..and find there true friends as sisters.And then there were the ones that blamed everything that happened in there life on someone else..and couldnt see the harm he was causing himself n others..just threw jealousy.The struggle of hard work of traveling on wagon train to settle on land andStart a new life and renuild after firesAnd crops n animals loss..was extremely hard...so many dangersAnd much faith...a must read.It saddens me..that the story has come to and end..when I enjoyed the HistoryOf Oregon n California's settling.

This series of 3 books lives out the lives of families headed westward to California and Oregon. During the crossing from the east, all the men died, leaving 11 women and children to complete this amazingly hard journey. Their settling in California and Oregon, again showed the hardship of living in that time during the gold rush and the mistreatment of Chinese and Indians. These books hold so many treasured lessons of life and show such growth and character development in the lives and friendships of these women. My life was deeply touched by their life stores, through their thoughts and actions, mistakes and successes. The author truly holds a gift for weaving God’s direction into the story and giving such valuable take always that can apply to most any life. My life was affected and changed...given more direction to hold onto what is valuable in our journey through a meaningful life. You will love this book if you like fiction that has a deeper meaning and reading about the 1850 time period. Thank you Jane Kilpatrick!!!

Jane Kirkpatrick is an awesome writer. You feel like you are right there with the pioneering women in this novel. I was sitting around the campfire, crying and laughing right along with them. I could feel the courage that these women had to find to keep pressing forward on their journey. I felt like I was at the finish line cheering them on, "You can do it!, You can do it!" A fun and interesting read!

Excellent writer. I could not put down this series...nor any of her other books down. The characters are incredibly developed, the story line realistic and engaging, and the history...so rich. I count it pure joy to have stumbled upon Jane Kirkpatrick, she is easily one of my top favorite authors to read right now.

Another J.K. book I can't put down.

I always enjoy Jane Kirkpatrick's books, but this one has really touched my heart. The women's stories and struggles show strength of character and how the Lord weaves His way into our lives even though we may not realize it.

An awesome conclusion to the series and the shipper was fast in getting it to me!!!
