Are they made of wood?

i can't remember, but i'm pretty sure they are made of wood. i've never seen one that wasn't.

Size??? Length especially - 2 sizes mentioned - one place it says 6" and one it says 5" (product dimensions) which is it???

I was never concerned about the length. 5 or 6 inches was more than adequate but just looking I would say they appear to be6 inches.

Where did the wood come from?

I am another customer. Although there is no indication written on the box, the wood that is most commonly used for tongue depressors is that of the Northern White Birch. They are manufactured in China, but the wood could be from anywhere. The USA corporation is in NY State.
