The Ultimate Eraser!
A kneaded eraser is basically a soft, slightly tacky rubber (Doesn't stick to hands or paper) that you can mold in various thicknesses to erase various kinds of dry media with light rubbing. Most common is graphite and charcoal. The advantage of them is that you get a LOT of use with each eraser. This one is no exception in that when you "fill" up a part of the surface, you just fold that spot in and get another sticky spot ready to go. This can be done many times over because the dust that you pick up just gets molded in and disbursed through the rubber. So even if it looks dark over time from picking up a lot of dust, it's still very usable. I haven't had any issues with this eraser hardening/drying out either and Ive had it for a few months so chances are that means it's usefulness stays consistent for a long time. But longevity is not their only strong point, they also do not leave that rubber flake residue that regular erasers do because the eraser does not wear down. So it's less messy as well. Performance wise on paper I'd say it performs as well as a regular eraser in that it'll pick up all it can from a spot but any embedded marks (like pressing too hard on paper) will end up staying and you'll probably have to carefully use fine sandpaper (If you do it too rough, you can tear the paper or make the surface too "rough" and it'll look off at that spot.) or something to actually get the color out of the paper's fibers. One thing it can do in this regard over a regular eraser is that you can pick up color just by "dabbing" the paper. So you don't need a rubbing motion to get color off, you just need to touch it a few times. Colored Pencil/Pencil Crayon doesn't really come off on this super well (nor does it on a regular eraser) because it's a type of wax, but it will likely get the paper's surface down to a light enough color that you can put other colors on top of it again and fix whatever you wanted fixed. If not, sandpaper I guess. The best thing to do is just not press too hard so you never need sandpaper of course. Couple of things to note with this style of eraser though is that as you rub with it, no matter how softly you do it, it will change shape. So if you squished a sharp edge out of it to do some detailing work, you'll have to watch it so you don't erase too much as it gets thicker. Also, because you do have to knead it often to get the surface sticky again after picking up stuff, it may mess with your workflow. To store it, you can't exactly leave it out like you could a regular eraser for extended periods of time because random dust particles in the air sticks to it just as graphite will. So you might want to put it in a small zip-top bag or something to keep it as dust free as possible. But I don't think those are reasons not to try one because as you get the hang of using one, you start to adjust automatically such as kneading it one handed while you are thinking of what to do next or squishing it to keep making yourself a sharp edge with it as you go. Plus they're pretty cheap, so you aren't investing too much in one to try.

It was not worth paying for that.
It was supposed to be stretchy and erase but when I opened the wrap on it and stretched it it didn't stretch so then I tried to erase pencil on it and it wouldn't erase. Also it said it would be big the size of it wasn't even as big as my thumb. The only thing about it that was good is that you could get more grip.

Fantastic Kneaded Eraser for Artwork
This is one fantastic piece of art equipment. I'm teaching gifted children the art of drawing with charcoal and leaded pencils (usually a 6B) and this is absolutely invaluable, especially for renderings. I do wish that it came in a much larger size, but I can deal with it. It's great at picking up lead and charcoal when you want to lighten an area, and it's equally great at blending and erasing. I especially like the fact that when it's used as an eraser, it doesn't leave any residue of itself on the paper that you must flick away and possibly smudge your drawing. (I handle this with a can of compressed air spray when I use a different kind of eraser. It neatly blows away the rubber residue without smudging.) This is my favorite of all my erasers, and the most versatile one of all. Great eraser, great performance, great buy.

Item is great...be careful from whom you buy!
Design makes a terrific rubber eraser. It's consistently reliable and dependable for years; that is if you can keep it around that long. As an art teacher, my husband buys these by the case load and distributes them to each of his students. He 'allows' them to use the eraser as both a tool (eraser) and as a mini sculpting piece (keeps their hands busy during lectures and they create terrific objects). There are multiple sizes. The tiny ones are difficult to work with, but this size is sufficient. Our only negative comment would be this. Be careful who you purchase from. There are those who sell these 79 cent erasers for $4.39 each. Stay away from those vendors and only deal with honest folks. You can't go wrong with the product.

Great Eraser, Give it a try
I bought this eraser to substitute always using the eraser on the ends of my mechanical pencils. This eraser is a great substitute. The eraser itself is a little stiff when you first start with it but as you use it more and more it will become much for pliable and can be manipulated into any shape. I often found myself using it more as a fidget tool than an actual eraser. When you actually use the eraser the material almost seems to absorb the graphite, leaving no eraser shaving by-product behind. The only time I had trouble getting a pencil mark being completely gone was when the mark itself was very dark and heavy. My only complaint after months of use is that the eraser will pick up anything around it, such as hair, dust etc. into the eraser itself. Most of the time it was simple enough to remove however, you just need to be patient and delicate to not push it deeper into the eraser. Overall this is a great eraser and I would recommend to anyone that goes through lots of erasers on their pencils.

A Great Product at a Very High Price
This review exists on two levels, the product and its quality, and the price for which it is sold. The five stars are for the Prismacolor Kneaded Eraser which is a quality product and does its job very well. I would only give one star for the price and value as the price I paid on Amazon is ridiculously high compared to what it was at a local hobby supply shop. I paid $3.72 for each eraser on Amazon and was able to purchase a package of two of exactly the same product at the hobby store for only $2.79. That works out to $1.395 cents each at the hobby store as opposed to $3.72 cents each at Amazon. I can't say I wasn't warned by the reviews but decided to try it for myself and just see how it played out; the reviews were right, unless there is some special reason you can't get out to go to a local store, don't waste your money.

Don't buy! Very small, thin and looks about half the size of a phone battery.
I got multiple items shipped all at once. The ERASERis so SMALL that I didn't even see it after I unloaded the box! I had to dig the box out of the trash and there it was. I thought it looked like a small thin phone battery. I taped it to a book so I won't lose it. I haven't tried it yet but won't purchase again. Disapointed and think the price shouldn't be so high. More like a 99 cent store find.
