Luxury item but highly recommended due to drain pockets & stylish look during mastectomy recovery.
I ordered this for my recovery after a bilateral mastectomy and am very pleased with it. All of the nurses in the hospital raved about how stylish and adorable I looked! I can wear this long after recovery so that helps ease the pain of the price tag. But for recovery, having pockets (two on each side) for the drain bulbs is almost priceless because they are such a nuisance. You can pin the bulbs to your clothing but it is so nice to just be able to slip them inside a pocket and forget about it. It also gives you quick & easy access to work the tubing frequently as ordered by the surgeon. The fabric is soft and drapes nicely. I'm a size 2, 116 lbs., & ordered a small. It fit but there was plenty of room, even when I cinched the ties tightly. I wish that extra small was an option. I have not worn the bra (velcro closure in front) that comes with the robe because I must have *a lot* of compression right now in order to be comfortable and this bra provides none. The fabric feels very soft, though, and I plan to wear it later. It seems like it would be a comfortable sleeping bra. It has pockets for ice packs that are available on The Brobe website. That seems like a really nice feature if you're able to wear it and I was disappointed that I couldn't. Overall, I do feel it is overpriced but I understand that it's a small company. That being said, the material is of good quality and it is well made so I don't feel that I was ripped off or anything. I would absolutely recommend it to others if it is within their budget.

Well Worth Buying - REALLY
Rating comment section did not allow me to fully praise The Brobe. My bilateral mastectomy drains were in for 9 days and I was in this robe the entire time (24/7 except for washings). I absolutely recommend this robe. You will not be disappointed. So comfortable and really did help to manage the drains. As for the sizing, I can only say that my body shape is somewhat short and heavy but the Brobe (2x) managed to do its job perfectly for me. The fabric is soft and stretchy but still holds its shape. I was also amazed at how it kept me comfortably warm, but never hot. My most heartfelt thanks to the people who came up with this robe. As for the price. $95 was a small price to pay in comparison to the quality and comfort that I have received from it. I look forward to wearing this robe for a long time, even without my drains!!!

Yes, it costs a lot, but yes, you'll need it after a mastectomy
Hesitated at the price - I have never paid this much for a robe, but I have to admit it is perfect for post-mastectomy patients. I only had 1 surgical drain, but it's such a relief to have secure spot to tuck it, where it doesn't press against your skin, and you just don't have to worry about it being there. The fabric texture is soft, and it gets softer after washing - it holds up well, and doesn't wrinkle too much. It's between thick and thin - thick enough that you'd be hot in the sun, but also thick enough that you won't be freezing in a cold doctor's office. The fit was loose, and above the knee on me - I usually wear a 4-6 in dresses. I would have been more comfortable with a longer robe that wraps in the front, it opens a lot when you sit down, so I'd wear leggings if I was ever wearing this out of the house. That said, it's nice enough that it could pass for a long top over leggings. The pinkish red is pretty and flattering. Comes with a separate bra which is nice, but the fit is likely hit or miss - I wear 36 bands because I don't like anything tight - and this bra was very tight and snug. Didn't care for the eyelet trim on the bra, it was scratchy. If you're hesitating before having a mastectomy, especially if you will have more than 1 surgical drain, this robe is a very good buy. I tried other robes and dresses in my closet, but I kept coming back to this as the most comfortable item I could wear.

188lbs 5'2", prior to mastectomy I was a 42 DDD
This robe is a MUST for mastectomy recovery! Not only is it made very nicely, but the color is beautiful and it holds your drains securely in pockets inside. I like that my drain cords could hang naturally, but still be covered when I had my robe on. No need to coil them up. I plan to get a lot if use out of this robe even when my drains come out. The bra is also very well made and comfy! The bra actually fit BEFORE my mastectomy, but it will also be a nice soft bra to wear with my prosthetics as well.

Makes life with drains so much easier!
I’ve had breast cancer twice, 17 years apart. Determined this time to be better prepared for reconstruction surgery. The inner pockets are great for drain bulbs. After reconstruction I had 4 drains. Sure you can keep them in your pants pockets but forget they are there one time when going to the bathroom, and they will quickly remind you they are stitched in! Great for tummy tuck drains, too. Material is nice and not too thin to wear in hospital or in front of company. I actually used it as my gown with nothing under and found the time with drains, much more bearable. Looking back I should have ordered a larger size but the XL worked fine and maybe the little bit of snugness was helpful to hold drains and tubes secure. I had two Brobes and recommend two so one can be washed while wearing the other. Believe me, this was my 4th time with drains, first time with abdominal drains, I tried the button up pjs several times and always, always went back to these brobes within a couple of hours. Would like to see a few more lower buttons.

Love this robe!
This robe has been perfect for my recovery post-mastectomy. The robe is soft and light-weight and the inner pockets work very well for my drains. The button front closure is easy to fasten and the front tie is fully enclosed around the back (vs. having to keep track of a belt). I also like that there are two external pockets, this go-to robe even after my recovery. The included bra was not anything special. The velcro closure was actually more difficult than the front-zip closure on my other post-op bras. Overall, I LOVE the robe and the bra part is more of just and bonus and didn't really add to the product for me.

I had a recent overnight stay in hospital for a mastectomy and reconstruction and I didn’t know what clothing or dressing gown to take with me - I wasn’t keen to take my white long dressing gown so I was panicking about not having anything suitable. I found this dressing gown on Amazon and the reviews were favourable (other than on price!) so I ordered it. It came really quickly, it’s lovely and soft and stretchy, it’s a good practical length and best of all my drain bottle fits in the inner pockets (which I wasn’t sure until I was in hospital with the dressing gown). I didn’t use the bra it came with as I’d bought a different ‘front opening’ post operative bra from another specialist. I had to go home with the drain so it’s been really useful for continued use at home. If you can ignore/swallow the price it’s a good buy.

Bought this for a friend. Although the fabric is really nice, the drain pockets were too small for the drains used in the uk, or at least in the hospital where she has surgery. That wasn't too much of an issue as she was given a bag to carry the drains but she still didn't use it much as the gown was too big. She didn't use the bra at all as too small.
