Yes, there is a pocket on the back side of the bag. It is about 6 inches deep and 3.5 inches wide, just the right size for your phone. This pocket does not have a zipper, it is just open.

Would a binder fit in this bag?

A regular size binder would not fit in this bag. A messenger bag would work

Is this bag bigger than the other Hipster without the two zipper pockets (which is small IMO)? I want a bag about the size of the Laura tote, thanks.

The dimensions for this bag are listed on Amazon site....2 x 11.5 x 11 inches. I don't have either of the other two bags you are referring to. However, I'm sure those dimensions are also on the site in the description of those bags. If not available on Amazon I'm sure you can check the Vera Bradley site for size of those two. That's the best I can do for you.
