Is this meant to be worn over a onesie or by itself?

Check your baby’s ears, if they are red and hot or your baby's neck is sweaty, then your baby is too warm. You also have the option to wear it by itself. Whichever option works best for your baby! Is it ok to have the top slightly unzipped? I find it super snugged in the neck part
