Exceedingly poor product.
Does not work. I tried to use this device, off and on, for about 3 weeks, and other than the 1st day I couldn't get it to actually work while it was in my skin / hair follicle. The instructions are 100% CRAP! There is ZERO mention of the sound that is makes when it is "active". ( Had to read other reviews to learn that. ) Instructions didn't say that I should touch the "window" with my other hand that ALSO was supposed to have salt water on it. ( Had to read the "Troubleshooting" guide here on Amazon to learn that tidbit. ) The unit I had, also would trigger / sound even when the dial was turned to the 0 setting. Which, to anyone with 2 brain cells, would indicate that the unit is OFF / won't function. LOL The "storage" for the cord ( under the tray ) is a huge pain in the butt to get the cord out of, and an even bigger pain to put back. I cannot fault the tips for being fragile, as that is just the nature of a device like this. However, the stylus that you hold seems to NOT make the connection when one is holding it. But if you touch the stylus to the "window", magically it makes its sound. Maybe it is my skin type, or maybe I am just an idiot, or maybe I just got a bad unit. Either way, it is not worth keeping. I was prepared to "go the distance" with it, and diligently work my way around the areas of my body that I wanted to do. But when it takes 20 minutes just to get a random "buzzing" sound, and it wasn't even in my skin.... just nope.

Does the job right at home and value for money.
I first started out with laser treatments when I first noticed chin hair and was promised by the laser treatment company that the treatments will work. Unfortunately the laser treatments never worked, especially since there was a mixture of gray hairs. I fought to get a refund from the laser company and they admitted that only electrolysis would work for me. I moved to electrolysis and the treatments proved tremendous reduction in hairs and some areas with no new growths. It can take a long time to get appointments with electrologists and it can get very costly. Also hairs have to be a certain length and sometimes I have places to go and have to shave because I cannot get an appointment to remove my chin hairs. I do have a lot of scarring from the professional electrologist, but I am working on these scars. I decided to purchase this machine for my own convenience. I used the machine and it worked well just like my professional electrologist. It first needs practice and patience and to follow the instructions. Also, try to keep your hand steady. I love that it is light weight. I find that the tip of the machine itself should not be placed directly on the skin during operation if possible to prevent burns. All that is needed is the actual needle into the skin. It can be difficult to pinpoint some hairs, so I have a magnifying mirror. I think the machine is a great investment and will now save me money and time well spent.

I think it is a dud, no contact sound at all.
I purchased this about a month ago and just got it yesterday. I tried it out and there was no sound that determines contact as it should. I called the number on the instruction book and it actually took me to a Walmart customer care line?? I tried several batteries and did the tongue test, some were weak and the majority of batteries were good. I found the hair follicle insertion part very easy and did not have an issue just no contact noise and no hair coming out. I am waiting 48 hours as stated and will try again, if it does nothing, I will return.

Works but must be used with a lot of caution!
So I got this to mostly to remove a uni-brow that's been bugging me for years. The good news is that it works, however you have to be extremely cautious specially around the face. One possible side effect of electrolysis is pitting of the skin (where it creates little craters that look like acne scars). I started with the 4 darkest hairs in my uni-brow and they all caused damage to the skin. Lucky because they were far enough from each other, my skin healed and closed the mini pits. I was freaking out for a few weeks though because they were very noticeable till they healed. With that said I'm having to wait a few months for it to completely heal before I go back for the rest so I don't risk pitting. Now the reason I think I damaged my skin is because of the product design. With this device you don't place the needle in, and then zap; it starts working as soon as it makes contact with the hair follicle. Meaning the product is always on. Because the needle is so thin, and you have to slide it in with the hair, it can be very hard to get the right angle. This is specially true if you're using a mirror or happen to have shaky hands at the time. The pen also has to be held a certain way to work which only makes it more difficult. I can imagine treating say leg hairs or even a bikini area as being far easier, but since the device's needle must go in with the hair, you got to be able to see it and this might mean getting magnifying glass stand. In all, if you have hair where you can't reach or even very dense hair areas, this is likely not a good choice of product. At the end of the day to make it work you'll need a lot of visibility, patience, and time. If you have that, then you can make this work.

Not very effective
I am disappointed by this product, like most of the other reviewers, but i found that it did arrive in good condition, didn't require too much set up, and does actually function. It is VERY difficult to actually kill the hair follicle with this product. I have only been successful in actually doing this to probably 5-10% of hairs that I've removed with it (even after quite a bit of practice). I found that, in order for it be somewhat effective, it has to be turned up to at least 8 on the power dial and you have to leave the probe in the skin for at least 15-30 seconds.... which destroyed my skin, caused lots of scabbing, and took way too much time. A professional machine (and someone trained to use it) only requires the probe be in the skin for a few seconds at most. I would highly recommend not purchasing this product... if you can afford to get electrolysis done by a professional, then do that instead!

It Will Take Some Practice and Patience, but for Permanent Hair Removal Its Worth It.
This product came with everything but the 9 volt battery. The instruction pamphlet was descriptive, short and straight to the point. Its safe to operate because you are in control of the dial. It ranges from 1 to 10. I started off on a one and was able to work my way up to three within a couple of hairs. *Just make sure your not using it while soaking your feet, in the tub, or any other place where theres a basin of water. The set up is simple. Ive listed a few tips and things to look out for. To get started make sure your area is clear and your environment is free of distractions. You will need to focus on being precise for this. If you have some alcohol go ahead and wipe your pen, stylet, and tweezers down. Next youll want to put in your battery and prepare your salt water. I decided to wash my hands and face and pat dry with a clean paper towel. But you can get started as long as your hands are clean and your tools are sterile. The first thing you’ll want to look for is a beeping sound. I didnt see a whole lot of descriptions addressing this. It means that the pen is delivering an electrical current. The trick is to make sure that you feel a “tingling” or a “pulsing” sensation. This lets you know youre directing the current towards the follicle. This device works by zapping the follicles blood supply to prevent regrowth. When Done Correctly, Hair Removal IS PERMANENT! Lastly, you want to make sure to feel a tingling sensation and not stinging. If the skin is turning dark around the hair but no fluid is released from pore, you may be burning your skin. If this happens just remove your stylet (micro needle) from your skin and reinsert in a different position until you feel that tingling/pulsing sensation. Remember to be gentle, not only for your skin but also for your stylet, the needle is very small and delicate. You may bend or break it without great care. In the event it feels uncomfortable, its okay, just turn down the dial until you can handle it. If you dont get it within a couple of tries just be patient with yourself. You’ve probably had that hair for a long time, giving yourself a couple of days to find your groove is perfectly fine. You’ve already taken the first step by doing something about it. Becoming impatient with this device will cause you to burn your skin. If youre not trying to draw more attention to the area, its best to give yourself a little more time. Just make sure when youre done to do some after care with some non-comedogenic products. After your sessions you can apply a light moisturizer, but avoid the area you treated if there are exposed pores. If you must to go out, apply sunscreen!! This product delivers permanent results, and is an excellent trade for such a small price. If you are tired of waxing, picking, and plucking, then this is the device for you!

Works okay, then stops.
I have such a love-hate relationship with this product. The good: it's cheap and once you zap a hair it doesn't grow back. Now the bad: my main complaint is it just kind of stopped working. It worked reliably at first. Then it started cutting out sporadically, and working on-again off-again. Now it just seems like it's toast. No amount of wiggling or messing around seems to help anymore. The other main complaints are that it is tedious and slow and pretty uncomfortable. There are some other annoyances such as: the included tweezers are useless, the tip is super hard to disassemble if you need to replace the electrode, and if the electrode isn't perfectly straight it's nearly impossible to get it back into the tiny tip. I could live with that, though. Because it works well enough that I WANT to keep using it. But, I guess I burned it out or something. I just feel like if they put a little more thought or labor into it so that the design wasn't as cumbersome, and more importantly, the thing didn't just randomly quit after a couple of months, it would be a five star product. Now it's just kinda "meh".

It shorted itself out the moment I put the battery in. Returned it.
The moment I put the battery in, even though it was in the "off" position, I started hearing this horrible noise. I took the battery out. I checked the stylus, and the little metal bit was bent, but still looked usable, so I put the battery back in hoping for the best and there was no sound. Good sign, right? HAHA! NO! Turned it to "on", still no sound. Nothing. Got the metal bit into my skin, didn't feel anything. Cranked it to the max, still felt nothing. Tried a different brand new battery. Nope. Returned it.

Difficult, slow and painful to use. Don't buy.
Using this product is hard, slow and painful. Also it leaves dark spots at the site of use. Better buy some laser epilator. Don't waste your money on this product.

opened, used and not working
I am writing to express my concern regarding the Clean + Easy Electrolysis Device (Order ID: [Insert your order ID]) that I received this morning. While I appreciate the care taken in packing the shipment, I was shocked to find the following issues upon opening the outer packaging: The product box was not sealed as new; it appeared opened. The box looked very old, almost as if it had been used before. Stickers on the box were covered by other empty stickers, giving the impression that the item was resold. Regarding the device itself, I cannot confirm if it is functioning properly at this time, as the needle seems almost gone.
