Q: I have been debating between the cd5005 and cd6005. as far as i can tell the only difference is the cd6005 has a usb input. is this true?

The CD6005 has a separate headphone amp, improved analog circuitry and the USB. If you use digital connects instead of analog, have a separate headphone amp or do not listen with headphones, and do not listen critically, it may not be worth the difference to you in price. I have had, and still do have a Marantz CD5001 for many happy years. You can get better prices than list, and still have the full warranty. Check out the refurbished/returns/damaged packaging options. Let your wallet be your guide.

I really don't know, you will have to look it up. I use it in my home sound system, which is a Marantz Receiver and an XBOX ONE X

I'd say no audible difference ~ same DAC chip, same setup ~ the 6006 adds a few features like a USB port, but the audio setup is pretty mush identical. Personally, I don't care for the sound, a bit too forward and mid-range emphatic...however, it does make a pretty good transport, which is how I use it, running it thru a hotrodded Oppo

Hello, No, the Flasher In port (3.5 mm) is for use with an external powered IR extender kit to send IR remote commands to the unit. This would be used if the player is hidden in a cabinet or a rack where the player's front IR sensor would then be blocked. Thanks, Marantz North America
