decent quality and what I was looking for

I bought two. They look absolutely fantastic. Exactly what I wanted and nowhere found. The old days galvanized pattern look. It is called "spangled steel" or sometimes "star-spangled steel". In the old days all hot-dip galvanized steel looked that way. But new galvanizing techniques have now almost eliminated this "esthetic flaw". This is how it happens, I am quoting here from a galvanizing site: "Spangles appear as the molten zinc coating on the galvanized steel begins to cool below the melting point of zinc, which is 787° F (419° C). When zinc is molten, individual atoms of the metal move around in Brownian motion, which seems more or less random. As the zinc cools down just to its melting point, the zinc atoms closest to the steel begin to form orderly patterns. Some of the zinc atoms bond to iron to form an alloy. The very thin layer of zinc just above this alloy begins to form “grains.” The pot and the lid are well made, like they would have been made 100 years ago. The brush is a modern plastic brush as is the brush stem. The handle is (unfortunately) modern stainless steel. In one of my two samples, the nut is welded into the handle crooked, so the handle wobbles and cannot be fixed to look straight. Bad luck for me. There is a shallow plastic tub inside the metal pot, to collect water dripping from the brush. One day I may replace those stainless steel handles with wooden ones, as they just do not look right. A label at the bottom of the can says this is made in India. I always like to know where things are made. As for value for money, I think this nostalgia look is worth it. Others will no doubt disagree.
