I bought these Dickies bib overalls for my husband, who works as a panel beater and in the truck environment, and he’s been really pleased with them overall. He needed something tough enough to handle the day-to-day grind in the workshop — kneeling, grinding, welding, cleaning up — and these have definitely held up to the challenge. Fit & Comfort My husband is on his feet most of the day and does a lot of bending and stretching, and he said these overalls don’t pull or restrict movement like some of his older pairs did. The fit is relaxed enough for layering underneath during colder mornings, but not so loose that they feel bulky or in the way. He especially likes the adjustable straps — once he set them to the right length, they stayed put, no slipping during the day. Practical Features There are plenty of pockets, which he uses constantly. The bib pocket fits his phone and pen magnet, and the side tool pockets are perfect for a screwdriver or small parts. The fabric is heavy-duty and stiff at first, but after a couple of washes, it softened without losing any of its durability. He works with sharp edges and greasy parts daily, and so far, the material has resisted wear and stains better than we expected. No popped seams or fraying after several weeks of use, which is saying something considering the environment. One Drawback – Rusting Studs The only thing we’ve noticed that could be improved is the hardware. We need to soak them each week and we have noticed that the studs are "rusting" or at least deteriorating. It hasn’t affected the function as yet, but it’s not ideal for workwear that’s likely to get wet, whether from sweat, washing, or the occasional downpour. For something meant to handle hard use, we expected a bit more from the finish on the rivets. Final Thoughts Despite the minor rusting issue, these overalls have been a great buy. My husband wears them several times a week, and he says they’re the most comfortable and functional pair he’s had in a while. They look good, feel solid, and do what they’re supposed to. Just be mindful when soaking or washing — otherwise, they’re excellent for anyone doing hard, hands-on work like panel beating or other trades.
