Betta 2 aka named “Betty” for us… doing awesome job skimming our pool
The media could not be loaded. The Betta 2 is amazing. I will provide annual updates when time comes. I named her Betty. She’s doing a great job of keeping our pool in perfect condition. Even the small little specs of pollen & whatever else you see floating at top when the light hits it right is completely gone now—she’s able to collect that. NO MORE SKIMMING AT ALL. If I could get 3 years out of her it will be a worthwhile investment even for that amount of time. I was heavily debating & researching between the 2 current options available for robotic solar skimmers—Betta 2 & Solar Breeze Ariel. I heard the NX2 by solar Breeze was discontinued and the best but you’d have to buy one used third party. I saw the original 1st generation Instapark Betta had lots of issues & complaints. The new Betta 2 is/was fairly new and significantly less than the Ariel. So you know what I picked. The original Betta has red handle. This Betta 2 does not. The Betta 2 has been adjusted to resolve some of the issues of first gen model. Battery life extended prolonged & better suited for salt water pools now. My pool is not a salt pool so I can’t speak on that. Only issues are some have had Betta & Ariel models get stuck in return filter. I have not personally had this issue at all with either of my 2 return filters on each side of pool I have. Mine are flat in line with my pools side liner. No indentation. I saw a notice in packaging that they make a item that can help with this issue for those that have it which is great. Ariel from solar breeze had a few reviews on that & it was nice to see Betta 2 manufactured be proactive in resolving a simple issue some may encounter that’s out of their control but still put forth the initiative to resolve this. I cannot run my Polaris pool vacuum “named her Lola” due to Betta 2 “Betty” getting stuck on her long hose. I have the one that is built into the pool not a new battery pack one. This is common sense though and not a deal breaker. I take Betta 2 out of pool when clean to prolong product life common sense. Green lights flash at night & she’ll work all night off a day’s charge in sun. Must be ON to charge out of pool I learned. Has a on/off button. Lights turn red when charge is needed. Self propels herself around randomly but does a great job covering my 40 x 20 ft rectangular pool. My pool is definitely bigger than most of my neighbors and 1 Betta 2 is doing a fantastic job, I was not sure if I needed 2 but I don’t. Comes in the color white & royal blue. I got the white version. Very happy with my purchase now after being quite nervous to spend that amount initially. I also bought the $30 “Skimmie” off Amazon too, which is 2 yellow plastic handles that easily screw into your existing filter baskets with hardware provided & a pole that is double sided with a metal hook on one end & small rectangular net on other end. I bought this to help with my elderly parents bending down to clean out baskets and it was a big help for only $30. Seems universal to fit any basket. Well guess what? My filter baskets both have been empty now ever since I got the Betta 2. So not only am I not having to skim pool manually, I also do not have to manually clean out my 2 filter baskets. Making life more convenient and my pool maintenance less of a chore more of a joy. Highly recommend this product! I think once you have a robotic solar pool skimmer you’ll never go back lol Edit to add: Still doing great. Haven’t had to run Polaris at all really maybe once a week if that & I have big giant dirty tree right next to my pool that shades the other half of my yard. Recently bought a fountain that connects to input… occasionally she can get stuck in a whirlpool cause by it in my corner of the pool but still common sense not a deal breaker & most of the time she’ll eventually figure it out or turn off filter and she’s good to go. Unfortunately my pool is not smart automated it’s old fashion walk to filter flip a switch but if you can control yours from phone even better or just don’t have an attached fountain. Still highly recommend

Works as advertised; Looks like a hydrofoil boat, not a floating plastic blob
The media could not be loaded. [1y/r update: Still going strong. Could sink tomorrow and would still be pleased and buy another. ] Cursed w/ a single skimmer, we've been emptying our basket 4-5 and pole skimming times a day(!) Best solution we've found to supplement our one-skimmer system. Drop it in and let it go, lights flash status, runs silently; empty basket every day or two. We have a shaded pool area, so unit struggles to run continually, but intermittently works for us. Remote a bit clunky and delayed, feels like controlling mars rover (click now, wait to see what happens) works best when activating 'forward' letting robot touch a side to empty basket. So far, not effective for "spot cleaning"; could be this pilot needs more seat time? Over all outstanding product. Does job well, looks cool doing it. Worth price paid.

When it works 5 stars!! But…..
We had a betta (betta 1 or first version) more on that later, for a little over a year and it worked great the entire time. However, at 14 months the motors stopped working and some of the screws used were rusting. It was out of the 1 year warranty. As frustrating as that was, we still thought that the product was one of the best purchases that we had made…this product was smart and did exactly what they said it would do beautifully. We looked up the product on Amazon again and found that the product had been “updated” and was now called betta 2 stating that they improved the design and had new technology with integrated motors that were designed for salt pools for improved durability. This sounded very encouraging to us that the company recognized an issue with their product and it was the same issue we just experienced ourselves as we had a salt pool and our motors failed. To sweeten the pot at the time amazon and betta were offering $50 off and discounting their 1 and 2 year extended warranties!Looking at the positive of the situation…that the new updated product was on sale, that the extended warranties were being offered with a discount (ours failed 2 months past the warranty) AND that the company had addressed the motor issue pushed us into going ahead and spending another $450+ amount of money within a year and 2 months of the first purchase for the new “updated” betta 2That was the end of February 2023, It’s now July 2023 only 4 months since the purchase and only 3 months that we have had it and in use and both motors and the paddle that rotates and helps the debris into the basket just stopped working! No warning or any reason why they would stop working. However, we did notice a few weeks ago that the unit was going around in circles but did not think much of it at the time. While looking on how to get replaced and thinking it should be replaced with a new unit (It obviously had a manufacturing defect, a total failure and in such a short period of time), we find out that we have to return the defective one for repair! We are also informed that we must provide a box as we will not be reimbursed for the box and to ship via UPS GROUND and once they receive the product it will take at least 10-15 business days for fixing the defective product then ship it back to us. This process would take one month at best before we will have a working repaired defective product. We also discover that they “updated” the product again and it’s now betta SE (2023 version)!!We bought ours in 2023 but ours was called betta 2 not betta SEAND they dropped the price to under $400!!We investigated further and after reviewing comments we noticed that the official manufacturer response to questions of what is the difference between betta and betta 2 was the same response they gave to the question what is the difference between 2022 and 2023 version of what they are calling betta SE.Not only does that not make any sense they haven’t answered or responded at all to the customer that asks “what is the. difference between the betta 2 and betta SE”!It’s obvious that most customers do not even know there was a betta 2 because there is nothing said about betta 2 now.Clearly, this company has issues with its product. Specifically the issue with the quality of the motors and their durability and dependability.Their marketing materials (first with betta 1 and betta 2 ) stating that the motors have been improved and due to this improvement the motors would be more durable was a clear response to customer complaints. But then as time passes and Still having the same issues but needing more sales they just drop the betta 2 name and rename it betta SE and say updated version 2023 and state the exact same marketing material as before. We have a betta 2 sold to us in February 2023!I hope that this comment helps others when they decide if they want to spend $400+ for a this product. Can they count on the manufacture to not only warranty their product but BACK their product up with confidence they truly improved its flaws. That the version they are considering really is an update or a newer improved model. I will leave that up to buyer.Oh but if you buyer. Buyer beware. For us, we will now be requesting this company to send us a new unit, the 2023 version, since we bought ours in 2023. And if the company would like us to send back the defective one after we get our new replacement, we would be more then happy to. They can investigate and “repair” their product on their time not ours. It’s truly sad about this company and their inability to fix the quality and durability defects with the motors and this resorting to business practices that are shady at best and fraud at its worst. Because when this product works it’s amazing!! It’s smart ( it truly learns your pool it doesn’t go running into the walls!! ) and it’s a green product utilizing solar!Come on betta you can do much better then this! I hope!
