Yes, it is a quick release and that works fine. It's elongated and just a bit large for my toilet but it suffices. I wish I had paid attention to info about the lid because I wanted a "quiet" close lid and this doesn't have it. Install was very easy for me EXCEPT for 3 pieces that were to be attached to the bottom of the base. Wasn't mentioned in the instructions, nor were these "spacers" self explanatory. I tried sticking them (yes, I said sticking as these had tape on the bottom) with two in towards the front and one at the rear but it made the seat unbalanced, so I removed them. Now the base of the seat sits on the toilet base without really a cushion. Very thin seat, too. Wish I had done more investigating. No, I wouldn't buy again.

Unstable and flimsy. Installed per instructions and it moves around. Ordered a wooden seat since this. Only had it installed for 1 week and couldn't take it anymore and replaced it.
