It has been installed and working well for 6 weeks on my barbecue. No condensation or fogging noticed.

You just insert the gauge through the wall of the BBQ, whether an existing hole or drilled one. It tightens down with a wing nut so can be adapted to almost any size or shape unit.

Can you drill a hole to accomodate this thermometer in an old Imperial Komado?

Well I'm not a komado expert by any stretch but, I'm pretty sure there's a hole and thermometer already there huh? If that gauge has gone to hell remove it and replace. If no hole is present, yeah you can drill a hole to accommodate the new temp sensor. That drilling will take some time as steel and porcelain aren't the softest of materials. May I suggest a masonary or cement style bit to help you along? Once a hole is accumulated, I believe the temp gauge will fall in, the wingnut secured an off we go. As long as the probe is secured in the lid ur good to go!
