Recently upgraded my cpu and needed to reinstall the cpu cooler with thermal paste. I've always used the X method of application but my son introduced me to this spatula technique. Together we applied a dollop of thermal paste in the center and then used the spatula to spread the paste evenly over the cpu backside (where it is supposed to be applied). This method was so much less messy than previous methods. It would have been without any mess except I had to battle with the cpu cooler to lock in place and that is always a challenge. Moving forward I will always use this spatula. I feel confident that the thermal paste was evenly distributed and, as a result, most effective. I would strongly recommend having a spatula for this work. Each is single use and arrives in a multipack. Great purchase. Will purchase again as I build a new computer regularly for fun.

Haven't actually used them yet, and then how much can you say about a spatula other than that they can flip eggs, pancakes, and/or burgers, and now we spread thermal paste with them? So they'll work fine for when I need to use them. The price was decent enough for me.

Very flexible, not too stiff and spreads on the thermal compound evenly.

This was a great cheap alternative to using a small surface area abject to spread the thermal paste and it's not expensive at all so yea I'd definitely recommend this item

They really didn't help with spreading thermal paste but really didn't know what to expect

I have been tinkering, working on, and professionally servicing, including re-working pcbs including BGA components for nearly 20 years now. I've always preferred to just spread my paste. It's easier to ensure proper coverage of the die / IHS instead of worrying about not enough, or air pockets. I used to use an old credit card, then one time maybe 10 years ago I got a spreader with some artic silver (back when it was electrically conductive) and appreciated the simple but effective tool. After all this time, I finally lost it, and these were great replacements. Sturdier than the one I had.

It can be argued whether you need to use a tool like this or not as there are various thoughts on how to apply and spread thermal paste but if you like to make sure that the paste is spread before applying the cooler then this is a cheap and handy little tool to have. It is made of sturdy plastic so it shouldn't break on you while spreading the thermal paste and can easily be cleaned for re-use later, even though you do get a pack of three, so should last for a number of applications. This just makes spreading the thermal paste so much easier and cleaner.
