Discover improved balance, strength, flexibility, and mobility at any age with gentle therapeutic Tai Chi-inspired exercise from America's premier Tai Chi and fitness expert, Scott Cole. Guiding you through a delectable continuum of breath, movement, Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Stretching, and Chair Exercise, DISCOVER TAI CHI FOR BALANCE AND MOBILITY delivers easy-to-follow effective exercises to help prevent falling, while improving overall balance, strength, flexibility, and mobility. Great for beginners, older adults, and physically challenged, this workout is both fun and effective! Review: Easy to do workout for gentle stretching & balance - I love this short and simple to follow Tai Chi DVD workout program. The workout is broken up into two 15-minute (approximately) segments. I am just middle-age, but I do have some significant, long-standing health issues involving fatigue and pain/muscle tightness and weakness, but I am able to do one 15-minute segment at a time, twice a week. I’m hoping that I will eventually be able to do the whole DVD at one time, and more often than just twice a week. Because the stretches included in the workout are manageable, it gives me hope that I might meet this goal. Great for gentle stretching & building balance. The instructor is very kind, taking a very loving and lighthearted approach to a fun to do workout. I also love the lady in this DVD! She gives her testimonial at the end of the DVD. She has a heart issue. So with a simple question about what she could do about it, her doctor advised her to exercise. A short time later she found a way that she can be active through exercise to improve her health by doing Tai chi. She seems very grateful to have found an instructor who has helped her with her health. If she can do it, so can I! She is an inspiration! My Mom now joins me in doing this workout twice a week. Over the years she has had hip replacement surgery, and rotator cuff surgery, as well as knee replacement surgery. And she likes it just as much as I do! I have recommended this DVD to other people in my family too. For just over $10 the price is a great value for a low impact, easy to follow, simple beginners tai chi video. Note: there is a review on desertcart that paints the instructor in a bad light for things that the reviewer claims he does. I do not see his actions the same way. So I would like to address this as well, because I almost did not buy the DVD based on that person’s review. The lady in the video does flinch, noticeably so, at the end of one of the workouts when the instructor touches her shoulder from behind. I think I would’ve reacted the same way she did, because I am very sensitive to any form of touch on my skin, especially when it is unexpected and in a sensitive part of my body. Also, the lady does appear a little aloof at certain times during the workout, and the instructor responds with some gentle encouragement, some humor, and the offer of a reward (a massage) for her joining him for the workout and doing such a good job. I do not see anything wrong with his behavior towards her. In fact I truly believe he cares about her wellbeing, has deep respect for her, and he is excellent at getting her to open up and enjoy the workout. I believe that the lady is nervous about making an instructional video. I know I would be nervous if I was in her position with cameras all around recording my every move! I’m glad I bought the DVD and did not rely on that one review! Review: Love this DVD! - I would give this 10 stars if I could! I love Scott Cole's DVD's. I've tried Tai Chi DVD's by several different instructors, but I think Scott Cole's DVD's are the easiest and best to follow. I have several of his beginner Tai Chi DVD's and like them all, but I think his "Discover Tai Chi for Fitness" might be my favorite. He does an excellent job (especially on this DVD) of demonstrating the moves so that they're easy to follow and learn. The routines are very slow, gentle, graceful movements that stretch the muscles, improve balance, and strength, and it doesn't hurt to do them! I think every joint and muscle is used in these routines, and they really help for flexibility, balance, and strength. I couldn't sit cross legged when I first started Tai Chi, but after 4 weeks I could! And any muscle tightness in my back or pain that I have from sitting at the computer too long are "cured" after doing these DVD's! The breathing and movements in these routines also leave one more relaxed, and calm. Great stress reliever for anyone. You have to concentrate on the breathing and movements, or you'll tend to tip over! By the time you're done with his routine, any stress, anger, or irritation you were having is gone! I think Tai Chi can be used by almost everyone, including people who have limited motion or health issues. So many people would benefit from doing Tai Chi.

Nice DVD For Seniors
My mom is over 70 and relatively healthy. As with many seniors though, the doctors always recommend she get in some daily exercise. I noticed that my mom has been lagging a little bit. She goes out of the house once a week to do some things but other days, she sometimes doesn't leave the house. To combat this, I told my mom to exercise in the house. We are fortunate to have a relative large garage that she can walk around a bit. Additionally, a neighbor will occasionally call my mom to go out and walk. To add to the routine, I looked for some basic exercises my mom might want to do. I tried one of the "Walk Away The Pounds" DVD but my mom didn't like it. She did say she wanted to learn Tai Chi, so when I saw this Scott Cole DVD, I purchased it right away. I opened it tonight and had my mom go through the DVD as I observed. The exercises were relatively easy and my mom didn't have a lot of trouble following along. Overall, I think we have a winner here. My mom is not exactly the best at learning new things. THe fact that she could follow the DVD meant it was simple enough for her to use. I see this as something my mom can do once or twice a week in addition to anything else she does.

This is perfect for me
This is perfect for me. I tried taking a similar class and I knew the concept was what I needed. However, the instructor did not present the movements and breathing skills as needed. I have been using this DVD 3 days a week for 4 weeks now and I have seen and felt a significant change with my strength and balance. Scott is so easy to follow and I like the fact that he has a "senior" showing the results. I also swim and take a class two days a week which involves movement, weights and stretch bands. All this coming together is something I truly enjoy and keeping my body and mind active. I have told several friends of this wonderful DVD. Using this in my own home allows me to concentrate with no distractions. I feel great. If this in anyway is sent to Scott Cole, I THANK YOU SCOTT.

Love Scott Cole's Videos, but...
I teach senior tai chi class and his other video for seniors is great! This DVD is good also and good to use, however in several of the sections he has wet under arms on his t-shirt and almost all the moves you arms are up and down. Still good instructions, but next time wear a dark t-shirt Scott.

Scott Cole:Discover Tai Chi for Balance and Mobility...
I am "technically" a Senior (over 60); I had open heart surgery last year, and total replacement of my left knee two years ago. Agile I ain't! My Doctor recommended learning tai chi to help mobility and flexibility. I checked out several dvd's from the library to see if I could do any of the routines. Apart from the fact I could only keep the dvd's a week, I found I enjoyed the exercises, but none of the "masters" resonated with me. I discovered Scott Cole on the 'net, and immediately felt that he was someone I could follow, so I went to Amazon with the hot little gift card I'd gotten for Christmas burning a hole in my wallet, and made the purchase I'd had my eye on for awhile. I find the workouts easily do-able, and I get a kick out of his workout companion, who's got a few years on me at least! (I was determined...if SHE could do it, so could I! LOL!) I'm planning to get a few of his other dvds, as I get better at this one. I just love that he understands the needs of those of us who have physical issues...he even has moves that can be done sitting in a chair, for those who have trouble being on their feet. If you're a physically challenged individual, senior or not, I recommend this as an excellent beginners DVD to learning tai chi!

Great for balance and flexibility!
I am a bit over weight at the young age of 62 and was looking for a way to regain better balance and renewed flexibility. I'm glad I found Scott Cole! His video is simple and a nice way to start. Scott gives great instruction and shows gentle motions for those of us not ready to sweat just yet. Not to mention he is nice looking with a kind voice. His assistant is sweet as can be!!! I felt better and more confident after the first time. The routine is encouraging. It's only a 1/2 hour doing standing moves and then with a chair. If you are looking for something to get started, this is a perfect start at a great price.

Scott Cole: Discover Tai Chi For Balance and Mobility
I must say that this is the ONLY DVD exercise program that I have stuck to and love more each time that I use it. I have all sorts of aches and pains acquired anywhere from falling off my motorcycle and breaking bones, to falling while skiing and just falling hard on black ice. My body has not forgotten these injuries and so I suffer daily with chronic pain. Most exercise programs that I tried (and I have tried dozens of different ones), just don't seem the have the right amount of intensity nor keep me motivated This is the only one that I am sticking too and doing 5 days a week, religiously. I am seeing noticeable results in my range of motion and decrease in pain. I can actually walk up the stairs without groaning and taking one step at a time. I love Scott's gentle and caring voice, and no he does not check in too much with his student. She is an inspiration as is he. If you want a gentle program that does not hurt your body but strengthens it, this is the one I would recommend highly.

Perfect for my Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Nearly thirty years of Rheumatoid Arthritis has gradually robbed me of all the activities I loved for mental and physical fitness - yoga, weight training, walking, gardening, sewing, shopping, socialising and more. I was despairing that I would spend the rest of my life in my recliner watching TV (garrrrhh). My rheumatologist and pain specialist recommend Tai Chi. I tried a few routines (lots to choose from on YouTube these days) but didn't find the perfect fit for me until I discovered Scott Cole's routines. I sent off for a couple of his DVDs. His Tai Chi for Seniors is perfect for me. It feels so good and I don't hurt after doing it. Claire Karlstadt is also inspiring. She was 80 when she did this with Scott. I'm 67 and I'd be very happy to be like her at 80. The routine makes my joints feel lubricated and calm, and is also deceptively effective for toning - I have a waistline again! It is part of my morning routine and now my husband has joined me. It sets me up for the day. Highly recommend it.

Perfect for balance. Nl takes 30 mins a day
Brilliant video. Got it for my husband who suffers from balance problems. This is perfect. It takes 30mins and we do it every day. We never tire of the instructor or his pupil. My husband is 87 and it suits him fine. Our 18 yr old grandaughter also enjoys it when she comes to stay.

More fun than traditionnal Taï Chi. Love it!
This is a great workout based on tai chi moves. It contains simplified tai chi moves. This great workout has been conceived by a genius fitness instructor that knows what he is doing. With Scott Cole tai chi doesn't take months to master and you can feel the benefits at the first session. It's actually more fun to do than traditionnal tai chi. It's very effective on the body. You can feel the benefits at the first seance. The moves follow a logical sequence. Scott Cole is such an enjoyable instructor. This guy is so zen! The different practices of balance, strength, mobility, flexibility and stress reduction last 10 minutes each. The dvd menu is very well done. The balance, strength, mobility, flexibility and stress reduction practices are divided in chapters. You can do all of them in continue or individually depending how long you need your seance to last or how much time you have. I have all Scott Cole's "Discover Tai Chi" dvds. I have used his "Discover Tai Chi AM PM" dvd for years so it was an excellent investment; but since I bought this one 3 months ago, I use it all the time. So it's not a DVD that will stay on the shelf because it's really a well conceived workout that is effective, enjoyable and fun to do. I also love the beautiful sunny background where he practices his tai chi (I think it's filmed in Palm Springs). I would add that this dvd is not for the purist who wants to learn traditionnal tai chi. This an exclusive workout with tai chi moves. Traditionnal tai chi with all his fine details takes much longer to learn. For that purpose I go to my tai chi class and follow Dr Paul Lam's "The 24 Forms" dvd that is the best of its kind. Update (Feb 24, 2018): I rarely do reviews but this DVD is worth it. It’s a pearl. It’s very well done. I ordered it on August 26, 2015 and I never stopped using it (everyday). It’s a DVD you will use again and again. It won’t stay on the shelf. You will use it because it’s divided in 5 different workouts that blend together perfectly in a long workout if you want and have the time (approx. 10 minutes per workout). The different chapters/workouts are: balance, strength, mobility, flexibility and stress reduction. There is also a “bonus features” chapter. It’s a blend of tai chi and chi kung exercises that include fitness principles. Scott Cole is a fitness expert. He’s really the Elvis Presley of fitness and tai chi training. It’s so natural to him. It looks effortless to him. I discovered tai chi with Scott Cole back in 2006. I’m sure that he made discover tai chi to more people than anyone else in america. I’m doing and teaching the tai chi short form(24), long form(108) and 48 form. This DVD is not for the purist who would say it’s not true tai chi or pure tai chi (but it works and it’s fun!). It’s fresh and not traditional, with the beautiful background music from Daveed.
