Narex Woodworking Curved Bowl Adze

Excellent quality, good weight and balance. Edge came sharp and polished, I gave it an extra hone but I always do. The handle is shaped perfect for both a low grip for a bigger swing as well as up high for more controlled finish cuts. I will definitely be looking them up next time I am shopping for more carving tools.

This is a good sturdy tool with an exceptional price when you compare it to some of the very expensive imports like the Grans Fors tools that are back ordered by most suppliers with no definitive restocking time. I bought this tool to hollow out seats for Windsor chairs. This tool came with a leather blade cover and a highly polished edge, however, the blade edge really needed to be redone. It was polished to a high mirror finish but it was by no means sharp enough to cut easily or cleanly, it would only crush the wood fibers. I spent about 45 minutes with various grades of Scotch-Brite reconditioning discs on a pneumatic die grinder to redifine the edge and get it to where it would cut. It cuts very easily now and seems to hold its edge but further use will tell all. This is by no means the only tool you'll have to use to hollow out a seat or a bowl. You will have to follow up with a scorp and a travisher or a modified spoke shave. If you are a hobbyist or even more than an occasional woodworker this might be the tool for you, especially when you consider the price of less than $100 compared to well over $300 for some of the imports. Just realize you'll have to be prepared to redefine and sharpen the edge.

I'm not an expert, so take that for what it is, but I really like this adze. It came sharp, it's the perfect size for all of my bowl and spoon carving projects and is extremely sturdy and well made. I wasn't sure about buying a brand I've never heard of, but I needed one in a pinch. I'm happy I bought it, and I would definitely buy it again.

Works great! Used for carving burl bowls. Had to sharpen but that's almost expected and oddly enjoyed. On my doorstep the next morning!

This was the very last purchase I made on Amazon turning in all my points. This adz is good quality and works great. I was accidentally sent a large woman's bikini , but got the replacement soon enough.

This is a "kit" with extensive work needed to shape and sharpen the edge for more than very crude work. Handle was improved with hockey stick tape and hockey stick wax. After being tuned up the steel supports a decent edge. Highly polished bevel with coarse grinder scratches as received reminded me of pig and lipstick, but after investing time, very usable tool.

Arrived packaged well and on time. The edge will need sharpened and honed before use. I will also trim and sand the handle as well. It is very roughly shaped and still ferls square in the hand. It has a oil finish so I will be easy work. It is not a fine scandinavian adve but will work for the money. Nice cupped edge and enough weight to work wood. A little heavy for long use. Yet, it is surprisingly stout and well made. Should fit nicely into my bowl carving kit.

Life time woodworker, first NAREX Tool. Sharpening an adze is like nailing jelly to a tree. Fortunately this one sharpens on the outside edge. Came sharp but not honed. Caution ... you will develop a new muscle set using this tool. Impressed so far. Don't think I will ever wear this out. Holds a fine edge once developed.

this a well crafted tool, it needs a final honing but cuts and handles as good as other adzes I' ve paid three times as much for,it;s made for hard work,should last a lifetime !!

Awesome tool for bowl carving

Der Kopf ist etwas grob gearbeitet und am Stiel befestigt. Den Stiel werde ich mir auch noch individuell anpassen, soweit aber nichts schlimmes,mehr habe ich auch gar nicht erwartet. Die Schneide ist allerdings Stump. In der Mitte geht es noch aber in der Nähe der Ecken ist aber ein halber Millimeter Kante. Als ich nach einiger Zeit dieses Problem beseitigt hatte bemerkte ich, dass die Innenseite nicht im geringsten glatt ist. Dadurch kann keine scharfe Schneide zustande kommen. Ich ich werde versuchen das noch zu beheben aber vermutlich wird es sich auch nach einiger Zeit von selbst blank polieren.
