yes, fill the ear canal hold the flap over the canal and rub for 5 or 10 seconds and let go, beware because it will fling on you. lol

is it supposed to be like thick some what hard/ firm, kind of like glue but thicker ?

I used the liquid version to clean my dogs ears after bathing or as needed. It worked well for her ear infection reduction. I have not used the cream version.

Is this product also ok to remove ear hair and help keep ears dry?

That is exactly what I use it for... It's perfectly coats the ear hair so you get pull it out gently... Also helps to keep the ears dry.... great product!
