Le Creuset Stoneware Canister with Wood Lid, 1.5 qt. (5.5" diameter), White

I used to keep my sourdough yeasties in a quart jar, but that yeast dries like plaster and is the dickens to clean off. What is wonderful about this crock are the straight sides. It is SO easy to stir with a spatula and then clean the edges down. It's wide enough, deep enough . .it's PERFECT. Sourdough yeasties produce gas - so the lid lifts as the little guys eat up the flour. It doesn't matter, because a closed jar will actually explode if you don't have an open seal - so I don't know if my crock would keep the lid tight or not, but I don't want it to for how i use it anyway. I love the crock and will have to order another of a different color, just because it's beautiful and useful!

Good seal, beautiful color, good size for a bag a sugar, easy to clean, solid build, overall functional for my needs in holding sugar. So far the lid is solid and hasn’t warped, though I’ve never gotten it wet and store it room temp on my kitchen table.

Perfect sourdough starter container!!!!! I just started making my own wild sourdough culture. I add 100g starter to 100g flour to 100g water to give you an idea of what it holds. Plenty of room to fully mix and fluff as it becomes mature. Pretty enough to keep on your counter, works great for rests in the fridge, cleans up beautifully. My only complaint....honestly it is a bit pricey, but so are other sourdough containers that come w/o screw top lids ; which I was looking to avoid. Instead of $75 for a fermentation crock (or more), I paid about $50.

I love these Le Creuset Stoneware Canister with Wood Lid. I have the gorgeous red. I bought 2 diameters and 5 total canisters: 3 of the small 4 inch diameter stacked, and 2 different heights of the 5.25 inch diameter that stack to almost the same height as the 4 inch ones. So they take up the counter space of only one 4 inch and one 5.25 inch and I have 5. I love the wood tops - they seal well and they make the stacking softer than if they were ceramic. I do live in a dry climate so haven't had trouble with warping as have others.

My wife requested these as a gift and I was hesitant to buy them because of the price. I still am reluctant to say that the price is justified. They're also not as big as they're depicted in the images.

Really pretty. The rubber seal makes it more secure than it looks with a wooden top. It comes in various sizes and colors.

Hold alot of salt and looks good..Le Creuset makes a great product

As the cannister was slightly misshaped, the lid would not seal, making the cannister unusable. A shame since it looked lovely...

For the price point this item is extremely disappointing. I unboxed the canister and when I removed the wooden lid, the silicone sealing ring separated from the lid and was adhered to the stoneware. Once I removed it, the ring was broken in half and is useless. The lid has no sealing ring so the canister is close to useless. Edited to Add:- I have since started to store my sourdough starter in this canister, since it is no longer airtight as the sealing ring broke, it is perfect for this but that is all I would use it for.
