Grandpa Gus's Mouse Repellent Pouches, Natural Peppermint Oil, 4 Pouches

They seem to do a good job. We used to have mice make nest in our garage, and up under the hood of our cars. We put them under, and around the car. We are ok. 🤞🤞 They do need to be replaced regularly. Sometimes we try to extend the time. When we had a camper we would use them.

I’ve been using Grandpa Gus’s Mouse Repellent Pouches in my Toyota 4Runner, and so far they’ve been working great. I haven’t had any signs of mice since putting them in the vehicle. They’re easy to place, have a pleasant scent, and give me extra peace of mind, especially since my vehicle sits outside. So far, I’m very happy with this purchase!

Sorry, Grandpa Gus - perhaps Connecticut mice are different, but here's my story. I have a 2004 Toyota RAV4 that sits outside under the trees and is used infrequently during the summer. Both last summer and this summer, I could hear one or two mice in the headliner of the car when I got in, running around over my head. When I banged on the headliner, they would move around. This year, I suddenly had lots of weird electrical issues, and the Toyota dealer had to drop the headliner to get at the source of the problem. Five wires had their insulation chewed off and had shorted. There were four mouse nests in the headliner and two in the inside rear quarter panel. Apparently, this is not the first time the Toyota guys have seen the issue, and they did not have a solution to the problem. The Toyota guys had my car for two days to do the repairs (dropping the headliner is a major job) and it cost me $760. Obviously, I had a real incentive to solve this problem, so I turned to Amazon and read reviews of mouse repellents. At the time, Grandpa Gus had 7 reviews that were all 5-star, so I purchased a package of 4 pouches, putting 1 pouch under the front seat and 1 pouch on top of the battery, which is a dry area near the cabin air filter and frequently a point of entry for mice. Two days later, I drove the car to Home Depot and was disappointed to hear a mouse in the headliner when I got back to my car in the parking lot. I theorized that the Grandpa Gus odor was not getting from the interior of the car into the headliner, so I dropped the overhead light in the front of the headliner and shoved a Grandpa Gus into the headliner itself.....and then placed another order on Amazon for four more pouches. That enclosed headliner space is a pretty small volume for its own pouch, so I was optimistic. Unfortunately, the mouse continued to run around in the headliner for the next three days, after which I removed the Grandpa Gus pouch from the headliner and put two small, perforated plastic bags filled with cotton balls that had been injected with "Majestic Pure Peppermint Essential Oil" that I also purchased on Amazon - that product had the second highest rating on Amazon as a mouse repellent. The Grandpa Gus pouches were still on top of my battery and under the seat. For the next three days, I banged on the headliner and was pleased that there were no mice running around over my head. On the third day, I opened the back door and was surprised to see a tiny mouse inside the car! I tried to quickly throw the trunk liner out the rear door but the mouse ran under the seat – right at the pouch of Grandpa Gus. I put two mouse traps inside the car and proceeded to capture that tiny mouse along with 3 of his/her siblings – no mama or papa mice; just small baby mice, like the one in the photo. The peppermint scent apparently had driven the small mice out of the headliner into the interior of the car, where Grandpa Gus proved to be totally ineffective. I feel bad writing a negative review because the Grandpa Gus folks followed up both of my orders with a nice e-mail with suggestions for pouch placement and an offer for me to call them anytime if I had a problem. Perhaps Grandpa Gus works for large mice (mama and papa size), but it certainly didn’t work for the baby mice in my car. I really didn't see any reason to call them for help. Basically, there were at least 4 small mice living inside the interior of a 2004 Toyota RAV4, which is a fairly small car, along with a pouch of Grandpa Gus. I will remove the Grandpa Gus from under the seat and on top of the battery and replace it with perforated plastic bags of cotton balls that had been injected with "Majestic Pure Peppermint Essential Oil." On a positive note, the odor from the Grandpa Gus pouches is fine to live with. Unfortunately, the mice seem to have the same favorable opinion of the Grandpa Gus odor. Update 7/6/17 - I revised my rating from 1-star to 4-star based solely on excellent customer support. After I posted my initial review, I was contacted by Nick at Grandpa Gus, concerned that their product did not work in my situation. We exchanged a couple of e-mails so that Nick could better understand my situation. Without my asking, Nick offered to refund the cost for my two purchases, and he promptly took care of that refund. Because I wrote in my initial review that the peppermint scent has been working in my car, Nick also offered to send me, free of charge, a Grandpa Gus spray product ("Grandpa Gus's Natural Mouse Rodent Repellent - Peppermint Oil for Mice & Rat Control") because it includes peppermint oil as one of its ingredients. Although that product arrived today, it will be a few weeks before I can give this new product a fair test, and I don't know whether or not it will work in my situation. HOWEVER, regardless of whether or not it works, I increased my rating to a 4-star review to reflect the excellent customer support Nick provided. This is probably the first time in my life that I have ever been contacted by a supplier, offering to refund my money without my asking and to supply a replacement product for free, simply because they want satisfied customers. I initially purchased the product because of good Amazon reviews, so it obviously works well for some people. If you combine that success for most customers with their superior customer support, how can you go wrong by giving this product a try?

I am not the type to write review but I have to say Grandpa Gus came through for me! - I bought the ten pack and put them all around the inside perimeter of my garage because I had nightly visits from mice and was catching them in catch and release type traps with peanut butter. Put these out and guess what? No more mice since that day. It's been about three weeks now without any mice. The product smells like mint and a bit of cinnamon. Quite pleasant actually to us humans. All I can say is for me it seems to work unless it was a strange coincidence. I've ever left the traps baited in the garage since I put Gus out there and nothing...no mice! My only critique is that these are a bit expensive and also I am not sure how long they will last. We shall see.

The product is very easy to use. The smell is pleasent. The best part is that you don't have to worry about children or pets comming in contact or ingesting the product and being harmed.

We ordered the pouches and the spray as a last ditch effort to stop chronic infestations in our vehicles by pack rats. Tried this after a very costly repair when they chewed through the firewall, ate all the vacuum lines etc. We have had zero sign of rodents in either vehicle since starting use of these repellants, so it appears to work well.

For the price.... I guess. I mean bugs and rats do stay away for a little bit but the scent wares off quickly and in about a month, you'll be needing another one. Kinda worth it if you're needing to get rid of mouse quickly and you can get to sealing the gaps but for long term, mehhhh...

I bought these to toss into my storage bins and the corners of my garage/shed where I’ve seen droppings in the past. I wanted something that wouldn't risk harming my dog if he found it, and I absolutely refuse to use mothballs because of the lingering smell. The Scent (Peppermint & Cinnamon): When they say "Extra-Strength," they mean it. When you first open the bag, the scent is intense, mostly peppermint with a spicy cinnamon kick. • Pros: It actually smells pleasant, almost like a strong holiday candle. It makes the area smell clean rather than dusty. • Cons: Do not place these directly in your living room or bedroom. The scent is potent enough to be overwhelming in a high-traffic area. These are best for attics, basements, RVs, or boat covers. Effectiveness: I placed these in "problem corners" about a month ago. Since then, I haven't seen new droppings in those specific areas. • Important Usage Note: These are repellents, not traps. If you already have a mouse family living in your walls, this won't force them out. I used these after clearing out the area to prevent them from coming back, and for that purpose, they work great. Longevity: The scent stays strong for about 3-4 weeks, then starts to fade. You need to give the pouch a squeeze or shake every now and then to "reactivate" the oils. Verdict: If you want to protect a classic car, an RV, or Christmas decoration bins during the off-season, these are perfect. They work as a barrier and smell infinitely better than traditional poisons or mothballs.

Not upto the mark

This is surely the worst purchase I made in my life. This product is useless as rats march royally over the pouches. Sheer waste of money.

Not good product,rats remain away for one to two days only and then they come as usual.It is only waste of money.One should not buy this bad product. Rats are cutting this packet and spilling the granules of this packet all over the engine compartment of car not working at all
