For thousands of years the Chinese have had a secret. A secret that has allowed them to treat illness in its earliest stages, a secret that allows athletes to perform amazing, seemingly superhuman, feats of strength and agility, a secret that promises a long and healthy life to those who understand and apply it. That secret is Qigong. In this book you will learn: Introductory meditation techniques Exercises to develop your breath capacity Principles of posture for qigong Exercises to become aware of your own energy Qigong concepts from Chinese medicine The location of the twelve major meridians Exercises for each of the twelve major meridians These exercises provide an excellent starting point for beginning qigong practice, and provide a firm foundation for further study. Review: Makes a complex subject simple to overstand. - I rate this book five star because of the simplicity John uses to make what would be considered by most complex comprehensible. Secondly not only does he introduce you to the 12 meridians but also their peak time of day in a way that is easy to put into practical use. "Where the mind goes the qi will follow ". Thirdly, for me that is, John demonstrates and instructs on twelve exercises to stimulate the meridians. That is why I rate this and his other books that I've seen so far 5🌟 Review: QiGong Basics - An excellent overview of QiGong. Very easy to understand how energy flows through the body utilizing the various meridians with the body according to Chinese medicine,

Good book showing a basic qi gong/nei gong set
Good book showing a basic qi gong/nei gong set, and qi gong theory. Nicely structured, and clear. Author does a good job presenting basics of this system. As with any book on qi gong, still life photos do not capture the pace or intent that can be seen on video. Fortunately YouTube also has a video of the 12 exercises, and book and video together are a good instruction set. I recommend this book.

This book added great depth to my online QFP 12 week course
This book added great depth to my online QFP 12 week course. Electronic books cannot replace the real thing, great detail, and helped me to study the meridians, history, and philosophy.

Great visuals, simple.
I’ve purchased other chi gong books and although this one is short it’s also very detailed and contains great visual photos for each exercise. Enjoyed it! Simple foundations.

Clear and easy to follow for beginners.
Compared with 2 other books I received about Qigong, this is well written. Clear, concise and easy to understand. The pictures are black and white photos rather then drawings so they are easy to follow. This is a good beginner book.

An excellent 5 star choice on Kindle. ( But 1 star for the Amazon printed version ).
A shame the printed version has a thin, faint font, because it's a REAL struggle to read (the same applies to Mari Silva's QiGong book). I'm in my 70's trying to stay in good shape with diet / exercise etc. QiGong is the natural choice alongside my Reiki - I've tried several books (and many YouTube videos!) on the subject. The Little Book of QiGong (Ken Ward) is a good uncomplicated introduction for the merely curious. Personally my favourites, (for those appreciating more Chinese medicine background), are this book, along with "Pain Free Joints - 46 QiGong Movements" (Dr Yang Jwing- Ming) and "Simple Chi Kung" (Mantak Chia). Whatever, there are plenty of simple routines to just get started!
